The Fremantle Dockers will look to consolidate their place in the top-eight when they host the Carlton Blues at Optus Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Join The Roar for all the action with live scores and a blog of the match from 5:20pm (AEST).

Though the middle of the ladder remains a tight race and one that will certainly come down to the wire, Fremantle can go a long way to holding their position with a victory over the Blues on Sunday.

Fremantle’s three-game winning streak came to an end last weekend, a poor finish at the MCG left the Dockers short by 14-points against Melbourne.

Docker Michael Walters was charged with a one-game suspension for headbutting, however, the club successfully challenged and the tribunal deemed the act ‘unintentional’, therefore clearing Walters to play this weekend.

The Carlton Blues have enjoyed a week away from the club for the mid-season bye, which followed a narrow three-point loss to the Western Bulldogs.

It was a game of incredible momentum swings, with Carlton kicking five goals in a row to eventually take a small lead during the third quarter, before the Dogs kicked away again.

The Blues then finished the match with another run of five goals to reduce to margin to three-points, showing positive signs but lacking consistency across four quarters.

At selection, forced changes were required for both teams.

Fremantle have been hit with another injury to a tall; Jesse Hogan fell early in the clash with Melbourne and did not return to the field, suffering a foot sprain.

Stephen Hill will also miss the match with hamstring injury, while Taylin Duman has been omitted.

The Dockers have selected Cam McCarthy to replace the injured Hogan; McCarthy has kicked 10 goals from six games in the AFL so far this year and will be the tall target up forward against the Blues.

Adam Cerra, who was omitted a fortnight ago due to illness, returns to the side, as does Bailey Banfield following a 32-disposal performance in the WAFL last Saturday.

Patrick Cripps has been sidelined with a sprained foot, which, despite the Blues’ week off, is healing slower than hoped and will keep him out of action for one to two weeks.

David Cuningham (knee soreness) and Harry McKay (groin soreness) will also miss the trip west.

Carlton defender Liam Jones headlines the inclusions, making his return to AFL after a nasty concussion that has kept him out since round seven.

Matthew Kennedy and Jack Silvagni have earnt their recall to the senior side after solid VFL performances before the bye.

The last time these two teams played was in round 21 last year. Fremantle fought back from a slow start to run out 29-point winners.

Prediction
Fremantle have dominated this match-up in recent times, winning four of their past five games against Carlton.

It should be another day out for the Dockers’, aiming to put themselves a win inside the top-eight with a victory at home.

Fremantle by 22 points.

I’ve explained why your Hutchings article made no sense to your argument but you can keep insisting you are right, the less gifted tend to do so. Very strange you think a wce supporter wouldn’t re read a article from the finals last year when given the chance.

The same thing happened the other day Macca. 1 x 1 stated no modern coach has a B plan. I presented him with an article from the West in fact quoting Mark Hutchings as stating that the Eagles well know their game may start a certain way and he may start on one player, but that there is always a B, C and D plan. I cited the article for him clearly refuting his own argument. He didn't even read it. You can present as much logic as you like but it's like the flat earth society in there. Show him video from space it will be doctored. Show a satellite being loaded, the space shuttle cams, Hubble...all rubbish Macca, the earth is flat after all.

Come on AD, 1 x1 get's his jollies trying to bait posters...Macca presents solid logic and gets rancid bait back like slightly off prawns.

Once again you fail to stand behind your opinion. Perhaps it might be better for everyone if you simply put a little disclaimer on your posts as to which ones are "throw away" and can be ignored and which ones you actually mean.

I am simply applying the same standards as you, but if it is being pedantic that is my prerogative.

Oh, I don't even care anymore. I've had a rough day and I just reckon you're going a little pedantic, but meh.

It's not a vendetta at all, simply pointing out the blatantly obvious. You said on another thread: "I just don’t like using the umpiring as an excuse. Sure, it mightn’t have been the best – the AFL’s umpiring never is – but, again, I see it as a sly way of discounting the Blues’ performance whilst trying to bolster a point that doesn’t necessarily stand true." I think the same about trying to bring up Freo's injuries after the fact when before the game Matti thought the dockers could have lost Walters and still won.

Jeez, Macca, you've now spent since last night on this asinine argument. Matti thought your club was excellent, even if he (like most people including I'm presuming yourself), tipped Freo. This 'lil vendetta seems strange.

Mattician6x6 Mattician6x6 Roar Rookie June 27th 2019 @ 7:18pm Foot issue, looking like you’d win even if Walters suspension had been upheld. So after hearing the news Cripps was out you were so confident in Freo winning that you thought they could have lost Walters as well and still win yet after the blues get up you had massive concerns about Freo's injuries and only their home ground was going to get them over the line. Don't you hate that the internet keeps things!!
