After polar opposite results in round five, the Fremantle Dockers host the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium on Saturday night. Join The Roar for all the action, with live scores and a blog of the match starting at 8:10pm AEST.

Fremantle pulled off an exceptional victory over the GWS Giants last Saturday, running home 24-point winners in Canberra.

The Dockers trailed by four points at the final change, but finally found some accuracy in front of goals in the final term to kick six straight and win by a solid margin.

Fremantle took advantage of a Giants side that looked sluggish after their own come-from-behind victory against Geelong the week prior.

Nat Fyfe enjoyed a good day out with 30 disposals, Brandon Matera kicked four goals and Matt Taberner and Michael Walters booted three each, but it was fairly even across the board.

It’s been a tough week for Western Bulldogs’ players and fans, the Bulldogs lost to Carlton by 44 points on Sunday, giving the Blues their first win for 2019 and their first total over 100 points in three years.

After a somewhat even first term, the Bulldogs were no match for the spirited Carlton side who barely let up their aggressive, attacking game-style over the afternoon.

A third-term comeback was short-lived – the Bulldogs were shockingly inaccurate, slow and despite winning hit-outs, could not find the ball at ground level.

Immediate improvement is desperately needed, but it’s hard to see it coming away from home and against Fremantle.

Fremantle have made a pair of changes, one forced with the suspension of Taylin Duman for a strike on Lachie Whitfield last weekend.

The Dockers successfully challenged the originally two-week suspension, but Duman will still sit out of this home clash.

Brennan Cox, a late inclusion against the Giants, has been dropped.

Cam McCarthy and Ryan Nyhuis will return to the team to face the Bulldogs.

The Western Bulldogs have made one change at selection, with the in-form Jackson Trengove joining the side for his first AFL game of the year.

The versatile Bailey Williams has been omitted following the loss to Carlton to make way for Trengove.

Round five, 2018 was the last time these two met; the Dockers won in the wet at Optus Stadium by 54 points.

Fremantle former captain David Mundy joins the prestigious 300-game club this weekend.

Prediction
Fremantle have an excitement about them to start this year, while the Dogs have fallen flat in the past three weeks dropping games to Gold Cost, Collingwood and Carlton.

For #Mundy3Hundy, the Dockers will notch up another win at home against the Bulldogs.

Dockers by 32 points.

Good win Freo, not terrible from the dogs although goalkicking let them down again.

Unfortunately I can't extend the same affection to the Pies, but I at least always support them over West Coast when they play... ;)

Next four, Crows and Bombers away, Tigers and Brisbane home will tell a story. Need to win 3 to become a contender.

"What ifs" don't just belong to WB no matter what time of the game. No different to saying "luckily Freo's 6 posters all weren't converted". Besides that, the game was done by the time WB started piling on points. If they converted the first couple that changes the game anyway and who's to say Freo don't then pull their arses into gear a bit more to finish off the game. Was a warm night, junktime points weren't doing it for the dogs just like all Freo's posters weren't putting them a good few goals further up. End of. ????

Great effort by the lesser lights the rookies Hughes and Nahuis. Ryan in particular who kicked 4 goals in his first game and has only played 12 games and delisted and redrafted. It is time to give the kid a fair crack at it. He showed his outstanding ability last night. He has played on Liam Ryan on 3-4 occasions and completely shut him down in the WAFL

Dockers 4-2 which is what I said they will be before the season started. They've had North Melbourne, St Kilda, Western on their home deck. All basically bottom 6 teams.

What a sensational effort from Freo's second best ever player Mundy a champion player and a great club man. It is amazing effort for a player that has predominately played in the midfield and is very close to 34. Does not look like slowing down.

Freo, however, could have been 30 points further ahead. Bullies were put to bed by that stage...a lot like the Saints game a few weeks ago. Attacking thrusts at the end, in junk time, are just too late.

I was impressed with the Dockers final game against the Pies last season. I've always liked the Dockers but don't know why. They're my third fav team after Pies and Cats and great to see all three sides right up there at the minute.

Yeah but the last five shots at goal in the match came from the Doggies, and fortunately only one converted.

Have to say Freo were closer to converting a lot more than the dogs. Didn't Freo hit the post like 6 times?

Freo had 6 posters tonight...Doggies misses were just the last thing we remember.

And if Freo lost away to GWS like everyone expected and WB beat Carlton like a lot expected the same applies. But no, Freo get 2 wins, WB zero.
