Geelong’s finals hopes are on the line when they take on the second-placed Port Adelaide in one of 2023’s most crucial matches to date. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:25pm (AEST).

Having fallen out of the eight with consecutive losses, including last week’s horror upset at home against Fremantle, the Cats’ September chances haven’t look this precarious since the last time they missed finals, way back in 2015.

A loss here would see them likely needing to win their last three to make it to September, a tall ask considering one of those matches is against the ladder-leading Collingwood: with Tom Hawkins and Mark Blicavs both key outs, even the Cats’ strength at home is no longer a guarantee of victory, especially not after their loss to the Dockers.

The Power, though, are teetering themselves: once a challenger for the Pies’ top spot, three straight losses – including a controversial defeat to Adelaide in last week’s Showdown – have them just a win ahead of the closing Brisbane and Melbourne, and defeat here would in all likelihood consign them to fourth by round’s end.

Missing concussed pair Aliir Aliir and Lachie Jones, the Power’s premiership chances are on the line tonight, meaning two sides both have everything to gain from victory… and everything to lose from defeat.

Touché slip  sorry I missed spelled, (bloody autocorrect) but a spelling mistake doesn’t change anything. After all it’s not a bad euphemism when referring to the coach of the power:)

That would be charges, not charger’s.

FROM https://www.collinsdictionary.com COUNTABLE NOUN If you describe someone as your charge, they have been given to you to be taken care of and you are responsible for them.e.g. The coach tried to get his charges motivated.

No worries. You won’t mind if I find your opinions very strange then? And is Ken a horse trainer too, better call rspca!

Slip you do understand that this is an opinion forum, if we all had to “know” the people before we can voice an opinion about them it would be all, well “strange”. I find him and his actions strange and not at all a honest coach, the fact that his club has not got the trust to re sign him, well maybe his bosses find him strange as well. The fact that Keny doubled down his opinion defensively on the abysmal record of ports own admission of, lack of duty of care, to his charger’s, let’s see if his players still love him when there lives are possibly ruined from concussions. But to be honest Slip, anyone who brings up Trump in a argument has already lost said argument. Anyhoo that’s just my opinion.

No, but how do you label someone as very strange when you really know nothing about him? Apparently his players love him, and so did the cats players when he was an assistant there. We know enough about Donald Trump to know he’s strange, but not Ken Hinkley.

joel ,,,,,my veiw on the last quarter particularly last 10 mins your least experienced young players just made a few minor errors that they prob wouldnt make if they had 35 plus more games under their belt, small things that matter in tight finishes. the coach couldnt do anything about that. to say they didnt try is the opposite to my view. youve got another tough game next week against the giants ,i have you winning that on tonights form ,cheers

Experience had nothing to do with it, the players just stopped trying to win the game. Which comes back to the coach, I excusable for your players to come out that timid in thr last quarter.

What’s your take if they beat a team next week that will have lost 3 in a row?

That look on Hinkley’s face, after that sort of a loss’s, he is a very strange man. Just not that likeable. No one on the sort of money he earns and in the public eye should be that much of a clown. Good list but mismanaged, by him and the medical staff. It’s a shame.

Cats have a narrow win at home against a team that has now lost 4 in a row. Not gonna read too much into this.

I remember Leigh Colbert marking 35 out in a prelim in Adelaide and not being paid. Goal would have put cats in GF. Crows won flag.
