The resurgent Gold Coast Suns will look to move to 2-1 against the struggling Adelaide Crows at Metricon Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 3:05pm (AEST).

Gold Coast put a horrid Round 1 loss behind them by pulling off one of the great upsets last week, knocking off West Coast by 44 points. The Suns have started seasons off well under Stuart Dew, only to fall away afterwards. They’ll be looking to keep the momentum up here against a reeling opponent.

Adelaide won themselves some admirers with a hard-fought loss to Sydney in Round 1, but looked nowhere near it in the Showdown last week. They were thoroughly outclassed by Port Adelaide in a dismal display that moved them firmly into the wooden spoon conversation.

Gold Coast have never defeated Adelaide, making the Crows the last team on their list of teams they’re yet to beat. Should the Suns prevail, it will mean both expansion sides have finally beaten everyone else in the AFL once.

More than a squad's worth of first-round picks has to bear fruit at some point.

Yep the mismanagement at the Crows demonstrates how important it is to get the off field structure of the club right. Get it wrong and it tears a club apart.

Agree. Need to see how they handle away games under less favourable conditions. No doubt they’ve improved but how much is yet to be seen.

To be fair the Suns picked the eyes out of that draft with 2 and 3 if I recall with Lukosius and Rankine who starred for the U18 SA side. But Port got creative and found a way to get Connor Rozee at pick 5 who starred for North Adelaide in their GF win against Norwood in 2018. Can't say the same for Adelaide who picked up Chayce Jones at pick 10 from Tassie. And look how well Rozee is going. Rozee was coached by former Power player Josh Carr at North who must have convinced the Power how good Rozee was going to be.

They had a great coach a few years back, but sadly Phil Walsh isn't with us any more.

You should watch their performance last week, they upstaged an off west coast outfit that was considered a favourite to win the premiership.

Not sure on who as coach but I'd like to see a no-nonsense coaching adviser. I would add we need a Neil Balme type overseeing the coach. I think Ric Charlesworth would be an excellent mentor. ----- As for the coach l put it out of my mind. Nicks has already been sacrificed. You could put Clarkson in there and he wouldn't come up smelling roses. Lets see Fagan, Chapman and Roo leave first. And l loved Roo as a player a good strong player.

GC looked good but I’m going to reserve my judgment for a couple of weeks. They’ve faced terrible opposition for the past couple of weeks. Adelaide were as about as bad as it gets today; they put on literally no pressure at times. They got away with some passages of play today that were full of poor decisions that good opponents would exploit every time.

Wait for the book. By who? By anyone of the Exodus crew! Cameron, Betts, Lever, etc.....whoever. ------ All this goes back to no-one accepting the damage that "Corrosive Minds" did. No real mea-culpa by anyone at the club. The Crows are run like a State Education Dept. When you have major stuff go wrong their handbook says "go Jemima on everyone".

I suspect their days are numbered - but I'd still like to know who you think would make a better job as coach. Can't see too much coaching quality sitting on the sidelines. Ross Lyon? Maybe they need a hard man. But his record at Freo in recent years has been awful. Maybe Nicks is as good as they could get. Not his fault for the mess he inherited. Fans need to be patient. Once Chapman and Fagan are gone the clean out will be complete - but this leaves a massive vacuum - much like the playing squad. I get the feeling Chapman and Fagan are not terribly popular with the playing group and former players. This whole process could have been managed so much better.

The management need to go. They are the issue. The coach is always the Moon to the Management's Sun.

dont get to see the suns too often, they certainly looked impressive (albeit against poor opposition), they did start well last year too i believe, be interested to see if the young blokes can keep it up for the whole season this year
