It will be the apprentice versus the master as Rhyce Shaw’s North Melbourne Kangaroos take on John Longmire’s Sydney Swans at Marvel Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:45pm (AEST).

North Melbourne find themselves near the top of the AFL ladder as one of just three sides to win their first two matches. It hasn’t been easy, with a huge second-half comeback required to down St Kilda in Round 1, while last week’s win over the Giants was very close until the end. Still, their pressure has been second to none as they try to further their reputation as a hard-nosed, physical side that nobody enjoys playing.

Sydney have had both of their 2020 matches decided by a kick; a three-point win over Adelaide and a six-point loss to Essendon. They did well to get themselves back in the contest against the Bombers after falling behind by 20 points in the first quarter, but came up just short all the same. With Sam Naismith still absent, Callum Sinclair will have a lot to do against Todd Goldstein in the ruck.

The Roos and Swans have a habit of serving up thrillers, with their last three encounters all decided by under a goal. Sydney have an excellent recent record against North, winning seven of the last ten, and haven’t lost to the Kangas in Melbourne since 2007.

He had his two weeks in isolation and since then has had five negative tests, one indeterminate and one positive. Evidence is strong that he contracted the bug in Melbourne, not outside Australia. Give him a break. He probably got it from some loony protester.

the incubation period for covid is 11 days, the self iso period isn't the issue. We need to ask where he got the virus from because it didn't come from overseas.

Should never had started the season in Victoria and NSW, common sense always said so.

Hubs in WA, SA and QLD now the only options. Can't keep teams in Victoria after todays announcements from Andrews.

If the season is postponed then I would imagine once crowds are back McKenna is going to get booed more than any other AFL player.

This is not a startling Sydney team but they are so well coached.

If that is the case that is absolute gross mis management on both the AFL and Essendon's behalf. 2 weeks seeming like it's not long enough for those coming from overseas.

It’s going to be interesting Birdman. Essendon players might have to go into isolation and who knows what it might mean for the teams they have played. There has been an increase in Victoria so Dan Andrews might put a halt to the season. The restrictions will certainly not be eased now.

Haha. It seems the Dons have found a way to make themselves even bigger pariahs. Didn't seem possible..... :stoked:

The problem with a hub in WA is that most Vic players would choose to stay in WA forever. Bodes well for the WAFL.

I expect one positive won't derail the season, but it seems to me if hubs were going to be needed, Victoria and NSW were the least suitable states to have de facto hubs given their population levels and infection rates.
