It’s the match of the round as the ladder-leading Port Adelaide Power and red-hot GWS Giants open Sunday’s AFL action at Metricon Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:05pm (AEST).
In the words of coach Ken Hinkley, Port “got an uppercut” last weekend against the Lions. After a dominant four-win start to the season, it was disappointing to see the Power so easily brushed aside by quality opposition. They have beaten the Eagles, but another weak showing here will see the flat-track bully tag applied.
Greater Western Sydney looked to be in a bit of a hole after Round 3, but have emerged in the last fortnight as a team to beat. They were excellent in the clinches in a hard-fought two-point win over the Magpies two weeks ago, before picking the Hawks apart last Sunday night in a dominant performance. Last year’s runners-up certainly don’t lack for hunger.
The Giants have racked up five consecutive wins over the Power, including a one-point heartstopper at the Adelaide Oval in last year’s only meeting. Both sides enjoy playing on the Gold Coast, with GWS comfortably winning on their last three visits and Port boasting a perfect record of 8-0.

Geelong looked powerful against Brisbane for sure.

Well Brendon, my first and second side are two and one. Both looking like Contenders.

It was a scrappy game, and the umpiring was so bad I couldn't believe what I was seeing sometimes.

If your a game and percentage clear or last year's grand finalist, you're premiership threats.

Frustrating to a tee, Giants.

How are you a guru? Maybe wait a minute before you sink the boot in. Was a long way off a commanding performance, but to call it embarassing is cheap hyperbole.

Bloke down the road.

I wished Adelaide were as 'embarrassing' as Port.

Ofcourse they can be taken seriously. their first 4 matches of the year were 4 quarter performances. They then lost to Brisbane at their home ground where they haven't had to leave all year, who were top 4 last year. Will they be minor premiers? Probably not. Will they be top 4? I'd say at this rate, likely.

Good win today, but Port still can't be taken seriously until they can put the fourth-quarter effort in for an entire game.
