With a host of stars missing, Richmond look as vulnerable as they’ve been in many a year as they take on GWS in a rematch of the 2019 grand final. Join The Roar for live scores from 3:20pm (AEDT).
The last time these two sides locked horns at the MCG was that fateful day in 2019, when the Tigers, led by four goals from Norm Smith Medallist Dustin Martin, cantered to an 89-point win.
However, injuries have bitten the Tigers since, with just 11 of their selected 22 still there from that flag-winning side. Among the absentees is Martin, whose future is uncertain as he deals with the grief of his father’s passing during the off-season, as well as new co-captain Dylan Grimes (soreness), star midfielder Dion Prestia (hamstring) and spearhead Jack Riewoldt (thumb).
Just nine Giants remain from the side that was humbled two and a half years ago on this ground, but they’ve successfully replenished their list under Leon Cameron and have their sights on a deep finals run in 2022.
However, their Round 1 loss to Sydney has left them on shaky ground – they wouldn’t want to start the season 0-2.
The Giants have named star backman Nick Haynes and forward Jesse Hogan for their first games of the season, while midfield bull Jacob Hopper has been managed. For the Tigers, veteran winger Kamdyn McIntosh is the only premiership player among their inclusions.

Surely they won't have Rielwolt in front in the pecking order at C-H-F Bolta is bigger stronger and more at it than him - grimes back in hopefully - when is Vaustin back

Have you been busy this week Pablo? Seemed a bit quieter than usual. After the Blues defeat it’s understandable

2 dogs is always looking for a bite. BTW how good was Tarrant, didn’t even brake out into a sweat unlike Davis who burst a boiler. That back 6 is looking awesome - even the Blues forwards couldn’t score. Mids and 50m penalties were the difference. We’re in a good shape with cavalry to return!

And it took the Tigers to lead you to that decision. Lol. The irony is not lost.

I only saw him in the huddle after the game and remembered he signed on with Richmond. Thanks for the reaction regardless of me not seeking it. Good effort on your behalf
