The Richmond Tigers need to win to keep their premiership defence alive, but they’ll go up against a St Kilda Saints side keen to surprise. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:50pm (AEDT).
Richmond looked to have hit perfect form at just the right time, closing the home-and-away season with six-game winning streak. But, in the qualifying final, their hoodoo over Brisbane came to an end in stunning fashion. The Tigers were uncharacteristically undisciplined, giving away five 50-metre penalties in the first half to fall behind despite dominating play. They mounted a late comeback, but fell short by 15 points – meaning they’ll have to do it the hard way if they want to claim the flag.
St Kilda, on the other hand, played in one of the more thrilling elimination finals in some time – downing the Western Bulldogs by three points. They looked to have the match in the bag when they led by four goals late in the third quarter, but went to sleep in the final quarter and almost blew it. However, they were able to hold their nerve over the last two minutes to preserve their slim buffer and progress to the semi-finals for the first time since 2010.
It was one of the upsets of the season in Round 4 when these sides clashed, as the Saints came away with a 26-point win. Richmond had won four in a row and ten of the previous 12 against the Saints prior to that, however. This will be the first final between these sides since 1973, when the Tigers prevailed by 40 points.

Hardly slung, more a tangle after an initial hold. That's how Lynch ended falling on top of him. I didn't think it even warranted 50. The knee to shoulder did though.

Tom lynch slung the saints player down, and it’s his fifth fine of the season so that’s worth a suspension.

That’s the Richmond spin. The truth of it is that he can’t get near it. Lost his sprint, lost his jump.

no, riewoldt is very team orientated these days & happy to sacrifice his game if that whats needed at the time ..... the forwards all work together & usually theres a match up the team likes so they will be given space, eg dusty last year qual final v brissy.... the others work hard to drag their opponent away, its not just about the bloke getting the shots

Anyone know where Cotchin has set up his chiropractic clinic? I’ve got a stiff neck from shaking my head at all of the missed set shots and he looks like a guy who knows how to grab a mans head and give his neck a good crack.
