The reigning premier Richmond Tigers have an opportunity to get on a roll as they face off against the Sydney Swans at The Gabba. Join The Roar for live scores from 3:35pm (AEST).
Richmond finally got themselves back on track last week, shaking off Melbourne to record what is incredulously just their second win of the season. It’s been a rough 2020 so far for the Tigers and, with several stars injured or unavailable, could face an uphill battle to return to finals action.
Sydney, however, look to be in the middle of a rebuild. They were competitive against the Eagles last week but, as was the case against the Bulldogs the week before, were clearly a rung below and didn’t have the class to go with their opponents for four quarters. With one of the youngest lists in the competition, 2020 is all about gaining experience.
The Tigers have won their last two matches against the Swans, including last year’s only meeting by 22 points. This rivalry is fairly even in recent times, although Richmond have won six of the last ten matches between the two. Both sides love playing at The Gabba, with the Tigers riding a nine-game winning streak and the Swans winning on six of their last seven visits.

Carlton. No contest.

Ok JT if you had a choice between Carlton and Collingwood winning 2020 who do you go?

That’s another horrifyingly possible outcome that doesn’t bear thinking about. Don’t even go there. Please.

What if we said bombers not in jest?

Think both. Certainly Pies initiate. Need a few aggressive sides pounding opposition to kill it.

By all accounts it was Sydney flooding Richmond's forward line that was the problem. Usually it is the weaker side that does this.

Sorry about the low shot. Looking at the other games in the wet,the Tigers game certainly was awful

Oh God, don’t say that! Even in jest.

I have no idea either JT. Right now Carlton might win the premiership.

Possibly, Pete, I just don’t know. I’m not sure where this season is heading. Not Robinson Crusoe in that regard, I’m sure.

I am not deluded, I am quite aware Richmond aren't at their best. Your comment about not deserving to win is a cheap shot though. Swans also kicked only 3 goals after that point and less behinds and I stand by my comment that Tigers were better. The deliberate was interesting. Agree about being pushed. Seems Jack should have stood next to him and he would have gone over himself. Personally I think the penalty is too great and they should give the point and ball it up at the goal square.

The question then is “Why didn’t you?” The answer, obvious to all but your little cabal, “not that good.” I’ll freely admit that the Eagles are not yet good. But delusion is never pretty and doesn’t take away from the wrong decision. Mills didn’t step, he was pushed.

Unfortunately.

Watched first and last third. Looked like minimum effort. Maybe they are capable of more when needed.

The shorter game doesn't suit them as they can't wear teams down as easily. They have shown signs over the past couple of weeks though. They really did fall over on the kicks into 50 today. A few wrong options and lack of crumbers. I will enjoy watching some of the newer players over the next few weeks and hopefully they will do well enough for another tilt in the same manner as last year.

Very happy yes. Richmond were the superior side and should have won by 5 goals.

Looks to me JT like Dimma is now following Bucks.

Swans playing without Buddy, Josh Kennedy (capt), Sinclair, Ronke, Naismith, Reid, McCartin, Melican. I thought they'd be flattened by an older, more experienced team (even though Richmond has a few key players out). They did okay.

RT, eight points against the second bottom side. You are still in the mix, but what is happening?

Are all you Tigers fans happy with the Riewoldt "goal"? Very bad umpiring to me. When you only score three otherwise I'd feel that I didn't deserve the win.
