Richmond and Sydney find themselves in the bottom six, and with the stakes high, the losing team tonight will face an uphill battle to have a chance at making the finals. Join The Roar for live scores, coverage and analysis from 7:20pm (AEST).
Richmond has taken decisive action following their disappointing loss to Brisbane last week, with several changes made to the line-up. Unfortunately, Jayden Short will miss due to injury, but the Tigers welcome back Dion Prestia, Dustin Martin and Maurice Rioli Jr. Additionally, Jacob Bauer and Sam Banks will make their much-anticipated AFL debuts.
On the other hand, Noah Cumberland, Samson Ryan, Judson Clarke and Jack Ross have been dropped.
Sydney kicked poorly last week against Geelong and ultimately the match ended in a draw. They dominated shots at goal and managed to hit the post four times in the final quarter.
For the Swans, Lance Franklin is set to make his return in what will be his final game at the MCG unless his team manages to reach finals. The Swans will also welcome back defender Tom McCartin, who has been recovering from a prolonged concussion battle. Joel Amartey and Aaron Francis have been omitted.
The match tonight will be won and lost in the forward line with both sides struggling to convert in front of goal for the majority of the season.
It is unlikely either team will make finals – but tonight is do or die for both in that regard.

Don’t you blokes follow WCE  So you think Tigers will be where WCE are now? Definitely no idea! Jack 35 retires, Gibcus takes his spot 20 Cotchin 33 retires, Ross 22 in the middle Dusty 32, 2 more years, Bolton grows. Pickett 31, Banks 20 mostly played wing Grimes 31, Young 24 is his apprentice Prestia 31, has 2 more years, Sonsie 20 Lynch 31, has 3 more years. Broad 30, 3 years, Tresize 21 coming on Nank 28, 3 years, Ryan 22 perfect timing Vlastuin 29, Bauer 21 plays down back McIntosh 29, HRS 21 or Clarke 20 Brown 19 another Grimes backup. So Lynch and Dusty are our only concerns in 3 years time, by then we are in the draft and cap pressures are less. Now your educated! BTW haven’t seen enough of Campbell, Smith or Green all 19. Not sure on Dow or Cumberland. Yeah we are better placed than WCE :stoked:

Actually I revisited my Predictor....you're right Freo are not in the hunt. The Round 21 games for Richmond, Geelong & St Kilda and the Round 23 match between Geelong and StKilda will decide the 8. If Richmond beat the Bulldogs, which I think they can, then the Saints miss the 8.....again!!

I think it's better without Heeney. He breaks down structure by intruding on paths and passes intended for McDonald and Franklin. By contrast, Papley works with them. Heeney in the midfield would serve Sydney so much better. If he's in the forward line, he must work a lot harder defensively.

Roar Guru
Yeah but the Swans' structure is better without him.

It was a monumental job for Buddy to fulfill that 10-year contract which he did wonderfully well. If ever an example for going one more year too many though, this is it. It has become sad. What a champ he has been but yes, he needs to finish up now.

Was the first club to take the cup from Victoria, sometime ago yes but extremely historic.
