Two teams in need of a lift go head-to-head as the St Kilda Saints clash with the Richmond Tigers at Marvel Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 4:35pm (AEST).

After an inspiring win over the Western Bulldogs in Round 2, the Saints copped a reality check last week as the Magpies whacked them by 44 points. They were inefficient going inside 50 – managing just 37 points from 34 entries – while struggling to defend at the same time.

Richmond, on the other hand, badly need a return to form after two underwhelming performances since lockdown. They were sluggish in a 36-all draw with Collingwood and looked stunningly out of form against Hawthorn last Thursday night.

St Kilda’s recent record against the Tigers is truly miserable, having lost ten of the 12 meetings – including the last four by an average of 39 points. Prior to that, however, they’d won 13 meetings in a row.

Tigers gave away Dan Butler for pick 56. Ellis too. Bad errors haunting them now. Butler is a ripper. Should have kept him and off loaded Rioli, now in the twos. The next big thing anointed by many Tiger fans in here in Pickett now languishing in reserves too. Some players look so much better in a team on fire surrounded by stars in form. When Dusty, Jack, Cotchin and co are firing lesser players look so much better. I saw it with players like Chris Dawes at the Pies when Clokey was firing. Tigers look slow, really slow and Dusty is either injured or unfit . Perhaps they didn’t train well in isolation? Confidence is tough to find. A few players aging too. Riewoldt has been the key to them IMO and Jack is aging and struggling for form. Lynch is a stop and prop player who seldom leaves the forward 50 and has no other string to his bow. He is slow too. So is Pickett. Bolton at least has pace and showed something in the second half forward. What they were missing ironically was Dan Butler. Where to for the Tigers from here? They are at full strength already. Watching them walk out at half time they were joking, clowning around the Tigers. Perhaps they have got too Hollywood, expecting to blow teams away second half with a switch that is broken, misfiring and triggering the safety switch . Dimma is a great man, a nice bloke, humble too like Cotch… a legend now Dimma. Some great people at the Tigers. Benny, Peggy, Cotch, Jack. Dusty was the best player in the competition IMO in 2019. He has his work cut out now as does Dimma. Fame is fleeting and the Tigers are flirting with it. Before they know it they may be back in the pack wondering where it all went wrong.

Typical of you to use self righteousness as a shield to defend your behavior. Quite childish really.

I stuck with Richmond last year when others wrote you off . This year is different though as you are at full strength and still look slow . Not calling it yet

I think it is 7 so far. Not exactly sure. I think Carlton and Richmond played each other twice in each of the seasons from 2010-2012 when Ratts was still coaching Carlton and Carlton won all 6 of those games. He can add to that streak for getting the win tonight with Ratts now coaching the Saints. I have no idea why Ratten seems to have the wood over Hardwick. It is just one of those things I think. Beveridge at the Bulldogs has a great record against Hardwick too.

Interesting thing is that Hardwick has never won against Brett Ratten. Ratts seems to have the edge on him for some reason. I don't think Hardwick ever beat Carlton, when Ratts was still coaching them.

And you should be. But what is going on? Coach cull? Covid distraction? Certainly not injuries.
