Two sides desperate for a win meet at the SCG as Sydney host Carlton to begin Round 11. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:50pm (AEST).
Sydney were able to break a four game losing streak last weekend against the Kangaroos whilst the Blues were outclassed by the Magpies who are at the top of the table.
The Swans have only won one of their last five matches, which includes a 93-point loss to the reigning premiers Geelong and two consecutive losses at the SCG. Last week’s late effort to beat the Kangaroos was impressive, but tonight’s match will be a chance to get their season properly back on track with a win before the bye.
The Swans also lost the clearance count by 20 against North Melbourne last week, and Carlton’s clearance game is among the strongest in the competition. However, they will be pleased with Lance Franklin’s return to form with three goals last week.
Carlton have lost five out of their last six games to find themselves outside of the top eight, and clinging to hopes of a long-awaited finals berth this season. However, they will match up well in the forward line, as the Swans have several injuries down back.
Tonight will be a great chance for Charlie Curnow, Harry McKay and Tom De Koning to have plenty of it with greater opportunity to score.
Poor weather is expected in Sydney in the afternoon and we are likely to see quite a greasy surface on a cold Friday night.
I am tipping the Swans to take back the SCG with a seven-point win.

Yeah I agree or at least want to. But on current performance we’re tracking for 6-7 wins for the season which is totally unacceptable. Where do we go from here. Another rebuild ? Legitimate questions also about the list but it is and should be good enough to make finals.

Roar Rookie
Yeah maybe some, but at the moment we’re tracking for 6-7 wins for the season. It’s a much better list then that.

No doubt about low morale at Carlton.Geelong before the 07 flag were the handbaggers and Richmond before 17 flag were ninthmond so it can turn around.

As you know individual awards mean squat. Team performance is the essential ingredient.Clearly some disenchantment & ruffled feathers in blue ville.

Carlton are no Geelong or Richmond
Boo
Roar Rookie
That's a bit harsh Chanon .Richmond didn't sack Hardwick Geelong kept Thompson when there teams weren't going well and got results .I don't think there has ever been a side containing two Coleman medallists and a Brownlow medallist that hasn't played finals so there is some talent there .

Carlton seriously do need to look at what the pies have done. AFL is a copycat industry, and the way Collingwood have dramatically gone from so called bottom four team to flag favourites in a short period of time without selling the farm shows it can be done. Clean up should start at the boardroom.

Seems Carlton have taken the mantle of the most boring, rudderless side in the comp off Freo. They probably have six genuinely good players, who can't all kick anyway, and then drop off considerably. Have no right to expect to play finals.

Recruiting more than coaching Pete? Some great talent at the top end but where’s the bottom end at?

Boo you can’t turn sh.t into a gold nugget mate!

Tassie, Blues could pay $300k a year of it and it could still work out ok for them. Look at the Pies.

Loathe them, they should be banned.

No way that deal is getting done. Blues are stuck with that massive contract.

Franga was always a good defender at Essendon honestly I’m surprised they were able to keep McKay down given that they were giving up ten centimetres and size to him

I still don’t like those clapper thingies that swans nuffies carry

So it’s treason is it?

Roar Rookie
Carlton, Thanks for all the guffaws and laughs. Various kicks, hand passes and crazy failures in marking contests caused the group I was watching with a few giggles. It is not just McKay. Plenty of others can't kick the ball to a team mate within 20 or 30 metres.

Francis second best. A great defenders game. I like the way they both outmarked Curnow.
Kane

McKay, Fisher and a swap of second rounders to West Coast for pick one. Harry needs a change of scenery
