Friday night footy sees the Western Bulldogs looking to extend their winning streak to four games against perennial contenders the Geelong Cats. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 7:50pm (AEST).
The Bulldogs will welcome back cult hero and the man with the best hair in the league, Bailey Smith, tonight as the young midfielder looks to pick up where he left off a few weeks ago.
The Dogs have hit a purple patch of form in the last few weeks after a disappointing start to their 2022 campaign. The 101-point belting of West Coast last week is surely going to leave confidence flying high at Whitten Oval.
The most enticing match-up in this fixture is the battle between the high-flying Aaron Naughton and the best defender in the game right now, Tom Stewart. They are coming off a four-goal game and 40-possession game respectively, and will look to continue that form into tonight’s match.
The Cats have named Gary Rohan to come back into their side and Chris Scott will be hopeful that the ‘Friday Night Hero’ can sprinkle some of his magic on this game. We have seen Rohan light up the big stage on Friday night multiple times and I think if the Cats are going to sneak away with this one, he will be a key to their success.
Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins still stand tall as the most powerful forward duo in the league and the most enticing part of tonight’s encounter is who will be attempting to contain their impact. If it is not one kicking a bag per game, then it is always the other who comes up strong against any opposition.
Prediction
I am tipping the Bulldogs to continue their streak and win their fifth in a row by less than a kick.

Scott is restricting the other coaches view of game plan B. Just use it enough to win the game.

I have this feeling that Scott reverted to the past and pulled the handbrake at quarter time.

I’ve always been a proponent of this, especially if an injury results removing an opposition player. Call it the ‘Eye for an Eye’ rule.

My wife’s parents both hail from Cyprus they both came over at different intervals in the 1950’s

Character building win by the cats. No Henry or Kolo and Stewart subbed out early in the second, looked ominous and could’ve just chucked it in, but hung tough and closed it out. Stanley was massive in the second half, just unfortunate we don’t see it more often. Cooper Stephen’s probably needs to go back to the 2s for a period.

i think actions like that should be red carded, but only after a review. Let the team still have 18 on field, but they lose one spare man

still a stupid action

Didn’t enjoy that 3rd quarter but the Cats controlled the tempo of the game in the second half beautifully

Looking at the footage again after the game, you might be right. 2-3 weeks.
