Eddie McGuire stands by comments he made before Nathan Buckley's COVID breach

By The Roar / Editor

If you thought Eddie McGuire would finally admit he might have been a bit hypocritical in the way he talks about Collingwood COVID breaches vs the rest of the AFL you thought wrong.

It's just that Eddie has form. No-one is surprised with his (hypocritical) stance.

Here's a fair trade: Buckley isn't banned but Port get to wear the prison bars

I’m not sure how his comments can be “misconstrued as per usual”, didn’t he say the words or is he like Agro and has got someone’s hand up his clacker that talks for him? He’s actually embarrassing the AFL brand a bit with his comments

That's a question for the AFL.

6 weeks for Ben Hart. A slap on the wrist for Nathan Buckley? What guidelines are they using?

How is it a tough one for Eddie!? He drew a line, Collingwood crossed it, and now he's trying to insist he never drew the line to where he said he did. However, he provides significant benefit to the Collingwood Football Club in many other ways. Apologist dribble.

It's a tough one for Eddie. He is the leader of one of the biggest clubs in Australia and has a high profile in the media. He is asked (and gives) his opinion frequently. He voiced his opinion that certain breaches should result in the offender being sent home. It is the AFL that determines what sanctions should be handed out to players/coaches/clubs for breaches of protocols. If one of his players or coaches offend, they don't have to be penalised under what Eddie thinks should happen, they should be penalised in accordance with the AFL guidelines. If you think about this as similar to a routine tribunal appearance where a player punched another player. The CEO thinks he should get 4 weeks but the tribunal says 2. You accept the 2 and move on. Eddie chooses to be outspoken which why he's a target. However, he provides significant benefit to the Collingwood Football Club in many other ways.

No, it's more the fact that Peter seems to have suddenly joined the ranks of the enlightened rather than the ranks of the stubborn flog. I'd never thought I'd actually see him be even slightly critical of McGuire. It's refreshing. Capricorn by the way!

Eddie apologises to Adam Goodes after a Collingwood fan calls him an ape. Then Eddie suggests Goodes show impersonate King Kong Eddie demands harsh penalties for Adelaide and Fremantle players then Sidebottom stuffs up andCollingwood released a media statement saying Sidebottom's ban was "excessive" and "inconsistent". Eddie demands people who can’t follow the Cov 19 protocol should be sent home. Then Buckley doesn’t realise that Alicia Molik isn’t part of the Collingwood bubble. Who writes Eddies material?, It’s like “Some mothers do ave em “

Ha ha. I’m Scorpio too Rowdy. Perhaps I share this trait. As you know I’m an Eddie fan for what he has done for the club but even I now cringe every time he opens his mouth. I’ve had enough of the off field distractions too.

Eddie can't admit anything when he's wrong. One of his strongest Scorpio traits expressed in a negative fashion.
