Kane Cornes comes up with one of the more bizarre criticisms towards Carlton

By The Roar / Editor

With not much to cheer about this year, Cornes believes they over-celebrate when things finally go right for them.

There once was a pundit named Kane With a deeply felt love for the game. But a war of attrition Was his only ambition The fun stuff he whacked with a Cane.

Personally, I don't mind Cornes but this is a seriously stupid comment. He seems to regularly come up with negative comments about Carlton (must be some history there?). Part of his job is to be controversial - or no one will listen. I get that but these sort of comments devalue his contribution. Next week, he'll probably say that Carlton have no passion or commaraderie if their celebrations are subdued. An apology wouldn't be a bad idea but don't hold your breath Carlton fans.

He is your classic cl1ck ba1t shock jock. SEN did the same thing with Matt Rendell in a take down of Nathan Buckley. Both have their own agenda.

There is some serious competition in the field but I think the fact he clearly doesn't actually believe anything he say puts him over the top.

Kane Cornes figured out long ago that attacking Carlton is great for his socials - the fact this strategy sees him on so many football shows is an indictment on the industry. On a wider point, beyond Cornes' criticism we also had the fact the Blues laid 52 tackles in a half (the most a side averages per game this year in about 62) was somehow turned into a negative (ie they should be doing this every week) and the game was completely ignored on Access All Area's while other pundits talked up the dramatic change in Carlton from the week before without a thought to the dramatic change in personnel from the week before.

Is there a bigger tool anywhere in the entire footy media than Kane Cornes? I would argue "no". And I would be correct.
