The second Ashes Test resumes on Day 3 in Adelaide with Australia looking for quick wickets to put England in even more trouble as they look to fight their way back into the contest. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog from 3:00pm AEDT.
After almost two full days at the crease, Australia were still able to do some real damage to England in the few overs they had to bowl at them before lightning brought day two to an early end. Australia will start day three with a lead of 456 with England having eight of their first innings wickets in hand.
Michael Neser will want to build on his excellent start in Test cricket with more top order wickets and Cameron Green, Jhye Richardson and Nathan Lyon will all want to get in on the action as soon as Steve Smith tosses them the ball. Whether they will even get to the pink ball of the evening session is yet to be seen – they might be bowling but it could easily be England’s second innings!
For England, yet again they are having to dig them out of a difficult situation where they are well behind on the scoreboard. While they are two wickets down, their key men are still to bat and as usual all eyes will be on Joe Root as he looks to lead from the front with another big score. England really need a big ton from him today.
There is very little chance of rain and it looks like we’ll get a full day’s play – a crucial day not just in this Test but in the whole series. Australia could quite conceivably go 2-0 up in the series and get one hand on the urn.

What about his fielding, especially in the gully?

It’s early days yet but Green could be the best addition to our team in a long time. Our bowling attack is now relentless. There is no drop at all when Green bowls, and he can bowl the same number of quality overs as the rest, meaning fresher bowlers. His bounce is a real weapon.

I sorry to hear mate. It can be poor and get toxic. I ignore and don’t engage wth those commenters, don’t read any of their 7 million posts, those just get passed by.

Not that surprising. I've read somewhere that 80% of us live 2 hours from the coast between Geelong and Cairns. What must be less than 5% of the total land area.

Hey Pope Clint II. I'm surprised they didn't enforce the follow on but glad they didn't because too much cricket it is never enough. 30 mins before lunch declaration I think. Hopefully when Greeny is on 98 not out to honour Mike Atherton. The Meaningless Runs meter is off the charts.
