The second Ashes Test resumes on Day 4 at the Adelaide Oval with Australia looking to heap more pain on England as they build a terrifying 4th innings target for the tourists to have to try and chase down. Already ahead by 282 and with nine wickets in hand, Australia are well in control and England desperately need something very special to save this Test. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog from 3:00pm AEDT.

Having won the first session on Day Three, England suffered another batting collapse and then failed to make the pink ball work for them in the final evening session under the lights. They only picked up one wicket, and that was a run out! England know they are in deep trouble and only an incredible effort with both ball and bat can hope to save them in Adelaide.

It’s a tough position for Joe Root – he needs wickets and so will want to attack but he’s already 282 runs behind on the scoreboard so cannot afford to leak runs quickly either and give Australia more time to bowl at England in their final innings. Ben Stokes seemed to be struggling a bit with an injury last night and England fans will hope a good night’s sleep has him back able to take the fight to Australia.

For Australia they have time on their side, but they won’t want to hang around. There is some chance of rain on Sunday although forecasts suggest it’ll be done by the time play starts. You’d imagine that Australia will look to add another 100 runs or so and then start their efforts at getting those 10 English wickets.

It’s very possible that the match is wrapped up today if Australia have a good two sessions at England, including the evening one, but we might well drift into the final day if England can show some fight.

This Test – and arguably the Ashes – are Australia’s to lose in Adelaide.

I read that about Bumble. I had a cyst develop on the Left one after being struck by a hockey ball. It burst one night, I was in excruciating pain. The upside was my doctor must've been Emily Blunt's twin sister. All 4 of us were happy to see her

Bumble has used this opportunity to remind everyone about his similar experience with Jeff Thomson, he asked the nurse to do something for the pain but please leave the swelling.

Yeah ok, you all make good points. Just the time getting wasted grates me somewhat in these types of situations.

Who told you that? Paine?? Maybe he was/is, but his concentration in his first two tests has been high standard. I haven't seen him even look like stuffing up yet.

He was thinking about setting a standard for the rest of the team as the captain. This games gone but there’s still three to go and he has literally but his balls on the line. Who’s out here for a paid holiday and who’s here to actually do something lads? That’s what leadership is all about, good on him.

You’re absolutely right, what was he thinking getting a 90mph ball to the nuts and not getting straight off?
