The summer of cricket finally gets underway, as Australia and India do battle in the ODI series-opener. Join The Roar for live scores from 2:40pm (AEDT).
It’s been just over two months since Australia got back on the 50-over wagon, defeating England in a three-match series on foreign soil – although it was a horror collapse in the second-match loss that will be costing coach Justin Langer some sleep ahead of this series.
Australia’s last ODI series against India was a tour in January. Despite claiming a resounding 10-wicket win in the opener, the hosts took out the series with wins in the other two matches.
India took the honours in their last ODI tour of Australia too, again recovering from a first-game loss to win the series 2-1, although Australia got revenge in India in that same summer with a 3-2 win.
Start time: 2:40pm (AEDT)
Venue: Sydney Cricket Ground
TV: Fox Cricket

Get Kayo - - first month trial for free and you can just buy a month at a time and then cancel again.........not a bad option.

It’s a different game. Problem is, the competition needs the big names to validate it even if some/most contribute little more than a good T20 player. So they pay people like Smith incredible money - more than his value really

Yeah ozinsa t20 is glorified continuous cricket from year 10 PE classes.

Pretty tough with covid Jeff unfortunately the ipl and bbl make for folly with proper preparation but the 14 day quarentine was always going to play to our advantage tonight . India will certainly be better for the run .

He's been a bit up and down in the ipl , I'm sure he will get another game but phillippe and green are options not sure about stoinis as a number 4 why on earth would labuschagne come in before him
Pierro

Agreed bernie , he has had some high ball issues off archer and wagner but that's the only way they were able to get him out and he's great in the one day format , maybe not quite as suited in 20 20 but that's just pinch hitting for the most part
Derek Murray

Not me. But I’d still prefer he skip T20 whilst acknowledging his right to get rich doing so

Strangely, bowling and fielding were the two skills that looked most rusty - for both sides. Indian fielding was particularly atrocious

Who are the dimwits who say Steve Smith is not a one day player? Who are the dimwits who say Steve Smith is not great to watch?

I'm not normally one to complain about over rates, but that wasn't right tonight. It was slower than a Test match, that's not on.

India too busy playing T20. Sadly the game had another 30 overs. Commanding victory for the Aussies

I absolutely hate slow over rates but everytime the ball goes into the crowd or someone not part of the hub touches the ball there's a 2-3 min delay to clean the ball. It adds up a lot and you have to wonder given how well Australia is going.... how big is the risk here?

I'd be interested to hear what's up with stoinis. Might impact on selections for next game

We need to get the thinking out of our system that pandya sahab will ever be anything more than a medium pacer basher or second class spin basher. This innings will allude the selectors to stick with him another ten series. If he wants to play like today and can do this on daily basis, he should come out at number four. We can not have a finisher with Strike Rate of 120 chasing score of 370.

Zampa redeems himself. Nails vs coffin
