Australia kept the series alive with a barely-there win over India in Ranchi, now they need another victory to level the series at two-all, heading into the final match. Join The Roar for live scores and the blog from 7pm AEDT.
Buoyed by a giant 193-run stand for the first wicket, the Australians came away with the win on Friday night, but only after a 3/7 collapse threatened their prospects of making a competitive total.
The only Indian player to score more than 32 runs was, understandably, Virat Kohli, who lifted the side with a crucial and well played hundred. Around him, Dhoni, Jadhav and Jadeja all stayed solid, without setting the world on fire, and once his wicket fell, Australia were favourites to win.
Dhoni quashed no concerns about his run chasing abilities, and he’ll be keen to dispel those queries, and he’ll want the side to wrap up the series with a win, which of course they can do.
Australia still have a chip on their shoulder from the home series loss, and will want to take it to a decider, and also put on a better batting display.
Someone who is after a big score is Shaun Marsh, he’ll want to prove his spot in the side, after he missed out on the runs which came so easily for Finch, Khawaja and Maxwell.
Australia’s biggest issue will be getting Kohli out, and not after he’s tallied up a total. Jhye Richardson has both the best economy and also a three-peat of wickets, those of Jadeja, Shami and Dhawan.
It’s been an even series to date: the hosts took home the first match by six wickets, but with only 10 balls in hand, and snagged game two by eight runs, before the Aussies hit back with a 32 run victory.
Prediction: India to wrap up the series with a close win.

We are a chance of winning every time we play. You don't get team games, do you?

Gee whiz, that is an insane result! Well done to Turner, Handscomb and Khawaja.

Time is up for Marsh, “more resurrections then Jesus Christ”. He is out of form and when running between wickets ( which of late doesnt occur too often) he is blowing harder than a fat kid over a birthday cake.

would definitely like to see stoinis in for Carey I have no idea what our best team for the world cup is! I think though we need different tactics against England compared to other nations. Against England we either play 5 full time bowlers or an extra hitter imo

I am feeling for Aoron Finch a bit in that post match, it would have been great if he had contributed as well, irony is the guys he has to praise for good performances as captain which he undoubtedly does straight from the heart are the guys who may well earn world cup spots at his cost. But surely he seems to be a very nice man and every one would want him to succeed.

You are right after the advent of t20s required rates aren't as concerning as keeping your wickets intact, 50 overs is a lot of time in modern cricket.

It took a miracle performance from a #6 playing his second match to pull off the win. The top of the order left the lower order with too much work to do. At one stage we needed 180 off about 110 with 8 wickets in hand and the 5th bowler out of the way. We lose 19/20 times with that equation.

Matty Hayden, I’m a big fan. But his commentary is jevunile. He was extremely critical of Khawaja/Handsome partnership that went at 100 strike rate. Taking game deep, and scoring at 100, given the situation, was gold and the big reason we won.

You can't drop Carey now otherwise why did they play him in the first place? Who are our worst performers? Finch, S Marsh. They're also our most senior batsmen. Time to back the young guys who are performing. They won't drop Finch because apparently he's too good of a bloke, but that technique is abysmal. He's going to be destroyed on an English wicket with a little seam. One good innings and two starts (which he failed to convert) in 5 months. Need someone up the order like a Maxi or Turner to get us off to a quick start much like Gilchrist used to do when he opening in ODIs. Probably the best thing that could have happened tonight was have Finch get out. Meant he didn't waste 30 balls getting 17 runs.

THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY BOLLOCKS!!! Incredible. Tuner has booked himself a few games for the Pakistan series that's for sure. Marsh unless he makes a score next match would have to be the next man out.

All credit to Turner. He had been left an impossible task by the top order and pulled it off.

By 4 wickets with 13 balls to go! Brilliant! Oh, and that was amazing. Khawaja and Handscomb batted very well, in their way, and Carey and, of course, Ashton Turner. Brilliant, in his second ODI game. Thank you so much for staying up to join me, have a good night, well done to Australia!
