Australia are after quick wickets to stop Sri Lanka. gaining the upper hand in the second Test, when the hosts resume on 2/184 for day three in Galle. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 2.30pm AEST
The Aussies threw away a chance to bat Sri Lanka out of the Test in their first innings, losing five quick wickets on day two around Steve Smith to finish with 364.
Smith’s masterful unbeaten 145 still might be enough, but with Sri Lankan pair Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis stymying the bowlers with a 152-run second wicket partnership, the home side are now back in the contest.
The captain was trapped in front my Mitchell Swepson late in the day for 86, but Mendis is unbeaten overnight on 84, with a century there for the taking.
The Aussies have the upper hand: batting second in Galle is often hazardous, and their first-innings tally remains a long way off. But more runs from Mendis, Angelo Mathews and co., and the home fans will start dreaming of a memorable come-from-behind victory, and a squared series.

All the middlemen will come and slurp the profits. Look at all the 300-400 sq metre medium density developments happening. Houses are still dear, there is no reflectivity in prices considering they are on much smaller blocks. We can all now be Tom Cruise leaping house-to-house because the eaves are almost touching. It's Bin Night vs Car World. We have more cars and less room to park em. It's "Tetris" irl. I saw a fight breakout in Morayfield because of the density issue.

Well mate the price for starters. You can still buy a 3 or 4 bedroom house for $250k. Might need some paint but quite liveable.

I think he is finding his technique limited in these conditions and the reverse sweeping is the main thing he thinks he can turn to to counter attack. Hence why I've said before I think over exposure to ODI is cruelling his ability to bat consistently at Test level and why he needs to give away white ball and get as much of a full Shield (and County when on offer) experience as possible. Plus it will help his develop his keeping. I've posted elsewhere that IMO he is well below par with his batting 3 Test series into his career.

Add in his batting and refusal to rein in the reverse sweep.

Yeah but you are in Kal or Boulder aren't you? Easy to understand the dynamics in that situation.

We need a revolution in micro houses. And Local Governments need to get on board with that re their zonings and urban policy approaches.

It always seemed these two tours would be his litmus test. As it turned out, the Pakistan pitches didn't do much, but he's being found out in SL. Doesn't bode well for India 8 months from now. Not every chance can be taken, but he's even failing to take non-wicket balls far too regularly. I feel like he's missing 1 in 15-20 regular takes and that's Russian Roulette when chances come about so rarely.

The future is probably co-operative housing, but what's with 1 million houses being unoccupied in Australia? Sure, some are uninhabitable, some are renovator's specials and some are too remote for any one to consider, but the rest are holiday homes/second homes or just too pricey or not even on the market for family reasons. Hope something comes your way soon. Not an easy time for you and yours.

This square is Jekyll and Hide. I heard a commentator this morning say the curator found a hose between tests. Perhaps that it, but the ball started keeping very low on occasion in that last session. Will be a tougher bating track tomorrow - but if you don't take your chances, then hard to dismiss the opposition. Have you thought about moving to another region?

That's quite some gag.
