IKR, who’da thought?
Of course you don’t know about the diseased pitch but you prob know about Laker’s Fakerous 19 wickets. The disease and the butcherising shaving cutting of the pitch was English skulduggery at it’s best. But of course we all know England doesn’t do that for they are as pure as the driven snow with the lady of the lake holding forth a gleaming sword of pure samite espousing her untouchable truthes the dominions over cowering under her brilliant, all-encompassing righteousness.
Well I’m quite sure that they weren’t thinking about Chappell a great deal during the leg theory series. No idea on ‘56, but yeah those dastardly English.
I had a terrific coach as a junior who taught me how to deal with idiots who keep yapping when the bowler is coming in - wait till a stride or so before he's ready to release the ball and pull away!
Tell the umpires why and if the bowler has a dig, as they often do, explain it's his own fielders causing the problem and every time they yap as he comes in, it'll happen again.
Worked a treat.
Because of few assertions on the field? Casting those aspersions from behind the parapet of a keyboard can’t be tested. Being the obsessive that I am I watched almost everyball of the 74/75 English tour of Australia that was shown. Chappelli had plenty to say but he was the picture of concentration at slip. Sledging, as the bowler ran in, would’ve been anathema to him.

His determination to do well was fired by bodyline, the ’56 doctoring of pitches and other English deviousness. England did not know what they did when they fired him up.
I think Newcastle and Geelong were included amongst the capitals. Lucky I'm ignorant of your assertions. I wouldn't go see any of the nancy-boys of his age in concert. In fact Neil Young is the only other septagenarian I'd see.
nah he's just virtue signalling again, I suspect it is overcompensation for a guilty conscience from leading a team widely described as 'ugly' by the rest of the world.
Ian had nothing to do with it. He was a commentator by the time Greg ordered / did this low act. Bob isn't dead yet, I saw him in Newcastle 13 months ago. And he's just announced dates for the US.
Apologies gentlemen, before my time, though not really an excuse formy ignorance. I imagine he was much more annoyed then for being heckled. I'm sure opposing fans would have given as much to all the Aussies equally.
...when did Bob Dylan die?
He's only saying that cause he copped the worst of it after the underarm scandal. there's nothing better than a bit of banter between teams, makes it more interesting for players and fans alike.

Well if he was in Newcastle he's as good as dead.

He is?

Other than criticise it from the commentary box. I sense a Chappell conflation on par with the contemporary Marsh conflation.

In between balls yes his teams were mouthy. He's talking bout mouthing off as bowler turns and runs in as I understand it.

Greg ordered it. Trev did it. Ian was annoyed it happened. How many get this wrong? Its the same as when people ask if Bob Dylan is dead?

He’s got a very short memory. His teams were very mouthy

Has he got dementia? His teams were huge sledgers. Lillee, Thommo, the Chappells were all very mouthy

What did Ian Chappell have to do with the underarm?
