Good from Stokes, but would he have walked had Australia used up their reviews?
Very few umpiring mistakes compared to the debacle of the first 3 tests. These 2 a lot better though Australia should have had the option of a follow-on with one clanger. But there were remarkably few mistakes, to the umpires credit.
Maybe. However given the way Australia were appealing yesterday I’m not so sure. They appealed like that numerous times, the umpire was unmoved and they shrugged and did nothing. We will never know but it was a strange sight to see Stokes walk off after being given not out, that’s for sure.
You saw the way he handled things when the extraordinary fielding episode gifted him runs in the WC final, he's got some class and sportsmanship about him.
similar to what Mark Taylor said, only you said it better Jeff. If he didn't walk he would have gone on review anyway. Perhaps it was just some Kiwi pragmatism!
This act solidified my respect for the man, if I can ask myself and others to forgive and move past Smith and co, I can ask myself to move past Stokes previous actions. The man is an absolute world class all-rounder and has a drive and commitment I tip my hat too. And from what I have seen this series, has matured into a cricketer anyone should be proud to support.
Stokes, from an Aussie, well played.
Dharmasena in my opinion is probably the best umpire after Richard Kettleborough

Paine was positive Stokes had given a catch James. I'm sure he would have reviewed.

You’re assuming that Australia would have reviewed, which frankly is not a given.

Honesty should be applauded by everyone in sport. In the so called gentlemen game of cricket it’s rarely shown. Well done Ben Stokes.

I like what he did too Jeff, but would he have walked if we had no reviews left? Who knows.

No where to hide with DRS. But good on him for realising that and getting off the ground asap.
