Exactly what i thought too. I am a good guy who played shire grade, why not pick me, also? S Marsh isnt going to get better, or change his technique at 35, so really unless he is a consistant stand out, then he shouldnt be there, certainly not for being a "good bloke". Marsh jnr is so hot and cold, he is a number seven and therefore should be bowling 20 overs a day, to test level, or he shouldnt be there either, again good bloke or not. He was out performed by a debutant with both bat and ball, can you imagine that happening to either of the Waughs in there earlier days, think not!

I don't understand ay of what he said. Oh, I understand the individual words and their meanings but I don't understand what he means by them. Perhaps he means: "Runs are the only currency, no matter what format you get them in. You've gotta be a good bloke. If Maxwell gets among white ball runs he still won't get a test gig. If Renshaw gets among red ball runs he still won't get a test gig. If either Shaun or Mitch or anyone vaguely known to them get among any runs anywhere they'll both get a test gig. As they're both good blokes they don't have to get among the runs to get a test gig."

Langer reminds me of Michael Cheika. Has his favourites and nothing will change his opinion.

Geoff Marsh's test average was poor compared to others, but surprisingly he was a bloody good and successful one-day batsman internationally.

Langer reminds me of the show " the good doctor". Talks like him.

Well said. All of those players were better than G Marsh (Australia misses a trick not harnessing Smith, Wood and Phillips' batting properly pre-rebel tours).

Clanger comes off as a little boy in a man's role. In any other industry you would call this nepotism and corruption. What's exactly the worst that could happen if someone came in to replace the Marsh-mallow brothers? That's what I don't understand. It's not like we'll go out there with 9 players (we effectively did in the UAE). If the replacements don't perform, then you replace them until you find someone up to the task. If the Marsh-mallows perform well at Shield level maybe you let them have one last crack, but you have to earn it. You can't just hand out spots in the national side based on changeroom chemistry alone.

Justin Langer is currently losing credibility with every comment he makes. It is so very sad. I expected better from him. I also thought he would be capable of making the tough decisions. Silly me...

You know who else was a good man, but couldn't bat either? Geoff Marsh. He only got into the team because Hilditch hooked his way into oblivion; Wood was out of favour; Wessels had his salary cut and jettisoned over his supposed role in the rebel tours; SB Smith was banned for being a rebel; and WB Phillips was struggling enough as keeper let alone being asked to open. So from 1986 to 1992 Swampy occupied an opening position and averaged 31. Both Junior Marshes abilites do not fall far from the tree from which they spring. The selectors in 1992 had no qualms in dropping Swampy; hopefully these ones will also show that same intestinal fortitude and do the same, and realize their loyalty to mateship does not trump loyalty to Australian cricket.

The definition of stupidity. Doing the same thing again and again and hoping it will change. Australia's limited over form has been as ordinary as it's Test form. Runs are the only commodity that counts? These guys musn't listen to their own hypocritical nonsense!

I think Langer is saying you have to be a good man. And you have to have the runs.

So if i was a good man but couldn't play cricket does that mean i should be in the Australian crick team according to Langer. Shows you how biased he is for wanting 2 rubbish batters in an international team because they are good guy's PLEASE get your head out of the sand and become a realist for a change they are both woeful.
