It’s Queeensland Derby time as the Brisbane Broncos take on fierce rivals the North Queensland Cowboys with plenty of pride on the line. Follow along with live scores on The Roar from 8:05pm (AEST).

It’s been another disappointing season for the Broncos with only four wins, with their heartbreaking one-point loss to the Cowboys earlier in the year one of the low points.

Kevvie Walters’ team did produce a stirring effort in defeat against the high-flying Panthers last week, while Todd Payten’s Cowboys were similarly gallant in defeat against the Storm. However, with both sides stuck in the bottom four, finals are likely off the agenda – though the Cowboys could stay mathematically in the hunt with a victory here.

Payten will stick with the side that challenged the Storm, while Walters has injury clouds hovering over prop Rhys Kennedy and hooker Jake Turpin, which could cause headaches in the build-up.

A six again is a penalty when the play breaks down. But a play doesnt start until the play the ball is complete. So a ruck infringement is a 6 again then the play the ball happens then dropped ball = dropped ball. But for player offside the sequence is play the ball, player offside, ball lost results in play breaking down = penalty. It is silly but that is how it works. Ive been expecting for a while. for teams wanting a penalty for ruck infringement, to deliberately drop the ball prior to playing it, but hasnt happened yet.

Injuries Jimmmy. The only team that have suffered the same on the injury front is the Roosters. Anyway the Cowboys receive the least penalties in the competition? The Cowboys can’t control that statistic only the man with the whistle can choose where and when he makes those decisions. Selective officiating is hard to beat.

As a broncos fan, none of the replays convinced me that Feldt lost the ball. But nice to get a victory. Perplexing how much of the reaction is relief. Good to see the halves combine a little. Riki had a strong game after being cut (undeservedly I thought).

Good to not crumble in the second half. Still, need to do the same next week, maybe even win two in a row

Rob , we didn't deserve to win that. It should have been closer but they were better . We have so many issues I dont know where to start. I don't know about you but I am starting to get really peaced off at our recruiting of second grade NSWers to our team. I would rather have local boys of the same standard. At least they are ours.

Yes, Levi took his chance and he might be in for some games if Turpin is injured long term.

I thought in real time he didn't ground the ball and it seems that the Bunker thought so too! Still, Broncos have had the rough end of the pineapple for the refereeing decision all year. The NRL were happy to give it to the Broncos because it prevents the Cowboys from possibly winning the game and maybe making it to the finals #qldnrlconspiracy

Well done Broncos!! We've had a terrible season but we still got 30,000+ along to see this win!! Qld there saving the comp, despite being highly unlikely to have a team in the finals :(

Good game to watch - but neither team close to threatening any of the top 8 sides.

Congrats Broncs. Definitely the better side. Just thought fans were denied a deservedly more exciting finish by a bunker that has no idea what its remit is.

Best Titans squad is pretty accurate, it's more a reflection on how bad their rosters have been...

Sorry to say it, because he had a massive ticker, but the Broncs are far better without Turpin at 9. Levi’s passing and running very sharp.
