The second round of the NRL season gets underway tonight when two unlikely first round losers, the Brisbane Broncos and South Sydney Rabbitohs, square off at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 8:00pm (AEDT).

The Rabbitohs have turned to Tallis Duncan in the back row for Thursday night’s clash with Brisbane, with Jai Arrow out with a shoulder injury. They have have added Shaquai Mitchell to their bench in place of Jacob Host.

Brisbane skipper Adam Reynolds will play against his former club at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night after recovering from a knee injury. Second-rower Brendan Piakura (concussion) is going through NRL protocols to be available and trained alongside Reynolds during the week so he should be right to play.

Prediction

Souths look like they have too many moving pieces early in the season while Brisbane look more settled. Broncos by 8

Ilias was worse than the game he got dragged mid game (last season ??)

Absolute mess, but a bit of fun. Some amazing individual skill shown by Cobbo, Walsh, Mariner and Mitchell Something that might go a little unnoticed, but see Murray chasing the kick and tapping it back from behind the dead ball line? Only a couple of minutes to go. Game done and dusted. Still 100% effort. Freak Ilias had maybe the worst game I’ve seen from him. Lost count of the hospital passes he threw and when he wasn’t he was getting smashed himself. A couple of stone cold drops as well

The Rabbitohs played nicely in patches but you can't win with that many errors. They have the Roosters next week and can't really afford to be 0-3 to start the season. They do get Wighton back which is a large bonus

Who would Souths fans be proud of? Havili the best by far. Murray had some good moments. Anyone else able to hold their head up?

After a poor first half, this one fired up in the second half. There were plenty of errors from both teams but the Broncos deserved their win. Carrigan was immense for Brisbane though the middle, as was Piakura. Walsh was it his brilliant best in patches and was the difference when the game was on the line. The knee injury to Reynolds is a big concern and I'd imagine he will be off for scans. It doesn't get any easier for the Broncos with a grand final rematch at Penrith next week

Just terrible from Souths tonight. Broncos good in moments and could have really blown the Rabbits away with a bit more control. Neither team looking the finished product at this stage though, and perhaps the wins by the Roosters and Manly don’t look so impressive now.

Having Latrell at fullback must be the most frustrating thing for South's fans.

Not only will Souths not win the comp, they won't make the top four or top 8. They may finish bottom four. We aren't playing well enough to beat most teams. Very lazy and poor attitude.
