It’s a rematch of a thrilling final from last year when the Canberra Raiders host the Melbourne Storm in the nation’s capital. Stay up-to-date with the developments from GIO Stadium with live scores on The Roar from 7:35pm (AEST).

Tonight’s hosts produced a masterclass against the Storm when the NRL returned from the COVID-19 break, but it’s now Melbourne who look the more dangerous team. They were brilliant in snatching a golden-point win against the Roosters last week and, after some unconvincing previous performances, now look back to their premiership-contending best.

The Raiders, meanwhile, haven’t reached their peak since the aforementioned Round 3 win, and have a host of injuries to key forwards making life particularly difficult. It was Corey Horsburgh two weeks, and last week’s win saw Sia Soliola suffer a gruesome facial fracture which will put him in the casualty ward for some time. Emre Guler is also out this week with an ankle injury.

There’s some good news, at least, with Jordan Rapana recovering from a calf strain to come onto the bench and force former Storm centre Curtis Scott out of the side.

Canberra aren’t the only ones dealing with an injury to a key player. Melbourne winger Suliasi Vunivalu is out with a hamstring complaint, Marion Seve taking his place out wide.

Unfortunately the Raiders peaked in last seasons GF.

The Raiders didn’t give up despite the sin binning and losing Hodgson before half time. I saw no evidence that they gave up. Scored two tries in the last 10 minutes to get close. If Croker had kicked straight the score would have been 20-18 with a couple of minutes left. Is that a sign of a team giving up? If you recall the Raiders had two blokes (Wighton and Tapine) sin binned in the same game against the Storm in Melbourne last year and still won after scoring 22 unanswered points. You obviously have a selective and very poor memory. And as a member of the Raiders I was very happy with the way they competed against the Storm last night despite having plenty go against them. Ricky was right on the money in his press conference and I don’t always agree with him

Agree that CNK not grounding the ball and letting Cameron Smith's kick go out were very costly blunders. Hopefully they learn from it. As a Raiders supporter I was fuming. Whitehead was just unlucky - falling inches short of the try line after an ankle tap. Blind Freddie could see that the Storm had a lot of luck in winning that game. The only decision that the Raiders were blowing up about was the sin binning of Simmonson which even the NRL admitted was wrong.

I would say we can’t win because we're not playing. I'm thinking of changing of my Roar name to St.George III for those times when it's not obvious that I am St.George. The rest of what you said is irrelevant as I questioned the sin binning of a player running to get the ball. I thought it was bizarre.

So you get a player sin binned and you throw your hands up and say we can't win? The opposition scores a try to go ahead in the first half and you throw your hands up and say we can't win!! There was a game at the end of the year last year where a player was sin binned and his team rallied and defended with 12 men for the ten minutes. The blame everyone else mentality is why the Raiders are not a regular premiership force. Ricky's press conference where he said if they lost every game this year but put that effort in he would be happy. Well I am not sure that the members and sponsors would be happy with losing every game with a team that has the talent to win a premiership.

The pass looked OK to me and the officials thought it was OK but it is the sin binning of a player running to get the ball that is in question. I thought it was bizarre and I can't understand how the officials could make such a ridiculous ruling. Melbourne scored a try down the left wing just where the sin binned player should have been. Whatever else occurred in the game is irrelevant.

Raiders lost. Must be the refs fault. CNK just had to ground that ball to stop Melbourne first try. The left side just had to prevent that drop out going over the sideline and they would’ve gotten a set against a 12 man defense. Whitehead just had to hold the ball and he would’ve scored. All of those guys will be there next week as well. As will the touchie that allowed them to score of a forward pass. Until the Raiders stop whinging and blaming everything on external issues that they can’t control they will never be a consistent force.

He's a smug &*%$. Seeing him smile when interviewed after the match made me sick. Some of the best moments I've had from watching the Raiders beat the Storm in the previous three contests was seeing the disappointment on Smith's face. Unquestionably wonderful player but there is a smugness about him that is very unappealing.

Don't think you can blame George Williams - the Raiders have a few issues but George isn't one of them. I was a bit of a fan of Aiden Sezer but he just didn't produce enough. Don't think you'll find too many Raiders supporters that are unhappy with the way George is going - always threatening - and a stack of try assists.

Ricky summed it up. They got it wrong last week, the got it wrong tonight but he'll be back in the bunker next week.

Your statement "I thought Simonsson did interfere with JAC" suggests you were overcome with emotion. I've been a St-George supporter for 57 years and for the last twenty years Melbourne have been among the best teams, even better than Manly, in that time. I was even barracking for them against Easts the other night. I'm confident that the Dragons will beat the Storm next time we play them and I'll get very emotional if we do win but won't lose any sleep if we don't.

No emotion or thoughts on what the rule ought to be from me but I would like to hear what the referee’s boss has to say. I wasn’t the only one wondering why it wasn’t a 20 metre tap and how a lunge for the football could get a player 10 minutes in the bin. Forty two years ago I was in a group of hopefuls who had applied to be a referee. There were about twenty of us who sat in a classroom and listened to a lecture from a referee. At the end of the lecture the ref told the three guys in the front row to stay seated and said “The rest of you can go home”. It was bizarre.

As an Eels fan, I am obligated to support ANYBODY playing the Roosters in the GF this year; to avoid them matching our threepeat in the 80's. But I tell you what, if it turns out to be a Rooster v Storm GF, my mettle would be seriously, seriously tested. I'd rather have Mick Ennis, Justin Hodges, Sam Thaiday, Josh McGuire, and Paul Gallen come back and play for the next 10 years than Cameron Smith play another game. I have never despised a player in the NRL more.

Three legit Storm tries to one questionable by the Raiders is your argument?

Melbourne last year bombed out during the semis because they disrupted the team one game out from those big games by sacking their half Croft. Canberra are struggling this year because they basically sacked their half thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the world by purchasing a 5/8 English rep player and playing him as a halfback.

He's still only in his second year as a first grade fullback. Still a work in progress with his ball-playing.

Thought Simonsson and JAC just collided going for the ball - I could handle a penalty - but a send off is for occasions where someone is deliberately taken out when trying to score - and I don't think that was the case here. Simonsson was simply competing for the ball. Guess people will see things differently but he's not that sort of player. The signs for Hodgson didn't look good - suspected ACL and 12 months of rehab. I thought Havilli looked pretty good at 9 in the second half - but can he take them to a GF?
