The Cronulla Sharks and Canberra Raiders are the first match in a triple header Sunday of NRL action. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:50pm AEST.
Cronulla duo Will Kennedy (two matches) and Jesse Ramien (three matches) accepted high tackle bans. Nicho Hynes has been switched to fullback with Braydon Trindall at halfback to fill the Kennedy void while Connor Tracey comes in from the wing to centre for Ramien with Ronaldo Mulitalo back in the starting side after an illness kept him out last weekend.
Matt Moylan’s form improved last year when it looked like he might not get another contract and he’s been solid in 2022 to outperform the bargain basement one-year deal he signed. The Sharks would love to be able to keep him keen with another lean contract but he’ll be in a position to at least demand a two-season extension.
The Raiders’ six-year stretch when they kept beating St George Illawarra became the stuff of legend but Canberra have quietly built up a similar streak against Cronulla. The Green Machine has won their past seven games against the Sharks. The only other time in the NRL era that they have had a better run against a rival club was their nine-game sequence against the Red V from 2008 to 2013.
Seb Kris has been called up to centre with Jarrod Croker out three weeks with a shoulder problem with Xavier Savage added to the bench.
Kick-off: 1:50pm (AEST)

Agree Taree. Just couldn't see why CNK was binned - hardly touched a Sharks player and wasn't lying all over someone. Cory Horsborough definitely deserved to go. Whitehead was very unlucky - accidently collected Finicane as he was falling. And some very strange decisions in the last 20 minutes which favoured the Sharks. Wade Graham slaps the ball out of a Raiders player's hands - it is propelled forward and instead of a knock on against the Sharks we get penalised. WTF? CNK gets ironed out by a Sharks forward while they score a try and it isn't even reviewed! Despite them getting the rub of the green we smashed them. Great team effort but special mentions to Tapine, Papalii, Young, Frawley, Kris and young Woolford and Schneider. You'd think Woolford just earned himself a contract. Hudson Young played his best game since round 1. Kris provides an aerial option in the centres and Schneider has shown he is tough as nails.

Just a bit of information because I’m assuming you just aren’t aware of it - Wade has spent 12 years at Cronulla and has also captained the club, his tenure their makes up more than 80% of his career.

Geoff, what a great effort from the Raiders. That's all I ask for just 80 minutes of effort, they were all so brilliant in all areas. How good were they? I thought the Ref was so erratic in a lot of the decisions he made. I don't think CNK or Whitehead deserved a trip to the sin bin. But in spite of a very average Ref they prevailed, So proud. Let's see what next week brings.

Wade , the Penrith junior who played first grade at Penrith, before Cronulla bought him. Is a Cronulla great ?

Love the guy. Wade is a Cronulla great. But he demanded the ball ahead of Talakai too much, dropped a couple of balls, a couple of bad passes, couldn't keep up with Ronny in support on the break he set up....and he has the concussion issues. I feel Fitz will make a tough call.....unless it's Tolman type money.

Where’s your other Sharks supporter, ‘ farknuckle ‘ or whatever it is? Last week he was on here saying how no matter the mountain ,Cronulla could climb it. As it’s all about the effort & the team etc. This week the Raiders had 3 players in the bin during the game. Yet Cronulla couldn’t climb that mighty mountain?

Thought Wade was very good today.

How good was young Woolford in his first game for the Raiders. Terrific first 30 minutes at dummy half and then put the icing on the cake with a try assist to young Schneider near the end. Schneider is still learning on the job but jeez he's a tough bugger, great kick for goal and getting more involved in attack.

Can't believe we have beaten the Sharks 8 in a row - it used to be the rule that Cronulla win in Canberra and Raiders win in the shire. And you are right the two games against the Sharks are the two best games we've played all year. Wouldn't be too concerned about the Sharks. They are a top 4 side for me this season. Great to watch, They looked very flat today which is hardly surprising after the effort the put in last week.

Finucane's career is pretty much finished, along with Wade and Fifita. Finucane won't last the length of his contract. A shame as he is a great player and leader. With Hamlin Uele out Sharks have no size at all. Sharks are no threat this year. Were completely outmuscled today and need to recruit some power next year.

Great game from Canberra. Never seen Ricky so happy. Defence won that game, superb defence. Cronulla couldn't get their act together because Canberra wouldn't let them.

Tracey had to fill at centre because of the Ramien suspension otherwise definitely a better option than Trindall.

All you want is effort and I said last week was the GOAT by any team, this week would be the opposite - you are probably right that they were knackered but still the urgency and desire wasn’t there today as harsh as that sounds. All that said, credit to raiders mate - they played their best all year… probably two best games were against the sharks and took the points in both! Enjoy the win.

I thought Tracey was originally a half? Surely he would be worth a go, he is a good footballer

They looked knackered after last week Rene - but the Raiders looked more knackered in that second half - Hynes didn't seem to know whether he was playing at full back or in the halves

Or Miller…. Can’t be Trindall
