The Manly Sea Eagles will be looking to get back on track while the New Zealand Warriors will be looking to solidify their place in the top eight when they meet at Lottoland today. Stay up to date with all of the action on The Roar with live scores from 2pm (AEST).
The Sea Eagles squeaked through with victory with a drop-goal finish the last time these two teams met in round 5. The Sea Eagles go into this one with the overall advantage in matches between these two, winning 25 of the 36 previous games.
Manly currently sit in 10th place will want to continue their run of good form after winning three on the trot before a comedown against Penrith last week. Their form over the last month has been outstanding, pushing the top of the table Panthers all the way to the end. They will come into this one with plenty of confidence, and they will have to, after losing their last six games played at Lottoland.
The Sea Eagles will be without props Josh Aloiai and Martin Taupau, with Sean Keppie moving into the front row. Haumole Olakau’atu moves from the interchange to the second row. Centre Moses Suli will make his return to the team via the interchange bench while Jorge Taufua has been named to the reserves and is an outside chance to make his first start for the year.
The Warriors have won their last two out of three and had a close win over the Cowboys, holding on in the final minutes to secure the victory. Ben Murdoch-Masila is out after suffering a head knock in last week’s victory. This sees a return for Eliesa Katoa into the second row after playing the last few weeks in the Queensland Cup. Chanel Harris-Tevita has been named on the reserves and is a chance to return after recovering from his foot injury.
The Key Matchup: Tom Trbojevic vs Roger Tuivasa-Sheck – this battle of fullbacks is of the highest order. Since Turbo has come back into the team, Manly has been flying, while RTS has been the heart and soul of the Warriors team this year as usual. The team whose player wins this battle will most likely win the game.
Manly are coming off a hot run of form. Getting back Trbojevic has been a godsend for this squad and they will be looking to continue their march into the top eight. Meanwhile, the Warriors have been their usual up and down selves who will be wanting to continue to improve their position.

How does NSW squeeze all their FB talent into one Origin team?

Been saying it for a while now - Tommy Turbo is the best fullback in the game.

Turbo should be the NSW FB.

Fair enough. Think he tries hard and gets stuck in but he’s made a few handling errors over his games and seems to make 1 or 2 wrong/high tackles in each game

And he should have scored two more tries if his team mates around him didn't muck up the opportunities taking wrong options.

I can't agree with you . He had the ball dislodged 3 times today, a bit of bad luck there. But he is still miles ahead of all but Tohu Harris in that pack. He scored a try , 11 hit ups , 37 tackles with no misses, was on hand to tap that final bomb back at the end to give them a last chance equaliser, that they then bombed. He will be the second forward picked next week.

Agreed dropped like he drops the ball. Loose with his carries and with his tackles.

Mate my view is that I'm going to be a long time dead. Probably sooner rather than later if Manly let the opponent back in the way they did today.

Full-Time Match Report: The game started with some paper mache defence from both teams. Chanel Harris-Tevita went in inside 2 minutes under the posts from a short ball from Nikorima to start the game off. Tom Trbojevic answered with a similar play, scoring under the posts and the game was tied up inside 10 minutes. Turbo went over for his second 5 minutes later and this was answered by Tohu Harris, charging over Croker's attempted tackle to tie the game up inside the first 20. Manly went on the attack and were unlucky not to score or have a Warriors player in the bin after consecutive penalties inside the 20 metre line but the Sea Eagles couldn't put anything on the board. The Warriors then dominated the last 10 minutes of the first half. Kicking a penalty goal to be up two and then Josh Curran made the most of a Saab error to score in the 37th minute under the posts. This gave the Warriors an 8 point lead going into halftime. The second half started with Manly scoring 5 tries in a row. Tom Turbo had a hand in almost all of them, with Saab scoring a hattrick in 11 minutes, Garrick and Harper also going over. Tom Trbojevic was immense in the first 20 after halftime, probably the best 20 minutes of football someone has played all year. It looked like it was going to be all Manly to finish the game but then the Warriors hit back with a messy try to Chanel Harris-Tevita. Reuben Garrick kicked a penalty goal to take the lead out to 12 before Reece Walsh, who should have started, scored to get the Warriors back to within 6 points. They had a chance right at the end of the game but Maumalo couldn't convert with Saab bundling him over in the corner. A great high scoring game, surprising end scoreline as it felt like Manly dominated most of the game but well done to the Warriors for keeping it close. It simply was the Tom Trbojevic show, he was incredible. Cementing himself as the inform player in the competition. Does he get the No.1 nod for the Blues? Hard to argue with it if he does after watching a game like this. Thanks everyone for tuning in to the Roar's coverage of the Sea Eagles vs the Warriors. Enjoy the Dragons-Bulldogs game.
