Round 21 of the NRL Premiership continues tonight when the Manly Sea Eagles host the Parramatta Eels at 4 Pines Park in Brookvale. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:55pm (AEST).
So, here we go again, Manly and Parra. Apart from both teams battling for a top-eight position, this match-up has many subplots.
How will Manly go with their team back together again, how will the Eels fare without their halfback, and which jersey would Martin Taupau prefer to be wearing? Hopefully we get some answers tonight.
The Sea Eagles’ effort in their 20-10 loss to the Roosters last round was commendable, but it doesn’t tell us a whole lot about what to expect tonight. At the very least, there is some class returning.
Daly Cherry-Evans is in career-best form and, whilst his halves partnership with Kieran Foran is coming to an end soon, their season may not be done yet. For Manly to stay in touch with the eight, a win is essential.
Jason Saab, Christian Tuipulotu, Tolutau Koula, Haumole Olakau’atu and Toafofoa Sipley all return to the first grade line-up.
Andrew Davey has been named despite suffering a head knock last start and Ben Trbojevic returns to the 17.
For the first 30 minutes of their game last week, the Eels played near flawless football. The Panthers were already behind before Nathan Cleary’s departure, and the Eels looked to be winners early.
The scoreline suggests a comfortable win but errors returned in the second half and a 12-man Panthers outfit won the second 40. That has been the story of the Eels all season – sometimes perfect, sometimes poor. Inconsistency doesn’t win premierships.
In a hit to the Eels, Mitchell Moses will be out for a number of weeks with a finger injury. Jake Arthur takes his place.
Prediction
The Sea Eagles’ season goes on the line tonight. Another loss here would spell the end of their 2022 premiership tilt.
The loss of Moses is destabilising for the Eels, and it may take them a few weeks to get used to footy without him.
The Sea Eagles will sneak home.

Yes but it's Queensland. And everyone is eligible for Queensland. Donald Trump is eligible for Queensland. Pikachu is eligible for Queensland. My sisters neighbours pet ferret is eligible for Queensland

Replace Turbo with Ponga and that comment also applies to the Knights. Except the knights suck worser

Corso matchrace would be spectacular.

Brown's not eligible. Moved to Australia age 15, two years later than Taumalolo and Mulitalo, who themselves arrived a year too late.

In more ways than one, not nearly enough Pride in the jersey.

Whatever they do, it’ll be better than the load of c rap they served up this season. Zero improvement on last year, in fact many steps backwards. So frustrating when you look at the roster. Most games win or lose they’ve clocked in and out. I for one don’t want to hear about Turbo’s absence.. injuries happen and the guy who stepped in stepped up. Garrick has been one of our best but those defence lapses is totally unacceptable

We’ve already beaten the storm this year , anyway it’s all hearsay , good luck to south’s and good luck to eels next round

Would the Eagles consider playing Turbo at right centre and Koula fullback next year? Turbo is a gun defender and a pretty decent attacking player. At times. He and Ola would be scary together

Yes? And?

If defence is all about attitude then it’s their attitude that is in urgent need of repair. I’ve never seen a Manly side give up back to back points like this. Their last twenty minutes in all games is pathetic

The Eels better enjoy that win because they play Souths, Bulldogs, Broncos and Storm next and they definitely won't be winning the two bookend games. Look at the Eels recent record against Souths. Now Souths know they MUST win that game they will lift accordingly.

Such a great game and then Manly just clocked off. Mentally soft.
