The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs travel across the ditch to face off against the New Zealand Warriors in Auckland. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 6pm (AEST).
Both the Warriors and the Bulldogs are out of finals contention, but a run of winning games at the back-end of the season could give both teams some much-needed confidence after what has been mostly another forgettable year.
The Warriors failed to back up their impressive performance against the Storm, losing by 38 points to the Rabbitohs. Their defence was laughable at times, showing no fight against South Sydney.
Interim coach Stacey Jones will be hoping his men can show up a more resilient effort in defence and give the Warriors faithful something to cheer for.
There’s another new halves pairing for the Warriors, with Daejarn Asi named to partner Shaun Johnson, as Wayde Egan is pushed to hooker.
You get the feeling that under Trent Barrett this season, the Bulldogs focused too much on defenxe and interim coach Mick Potter has changed that since Barrett’s sacking earlier in the season.
Matt Burton and Kyle Flanagan are flourishing together as a halves pairing, Jake Averillo seems to have found himself a spot to express himself at fullback, and the combination of Burton and Josh Addo-Carr on the left edge has excited Bulldogs fans.
The Dogs are playing an expansive style of footy, backing themselves to outscore their opponents at all times – even if it hasn’t paid off all the time.
This fearlessness will definitely excite incoming signings Reed Mahoney and Viliame Kikau.
The Bulldogs have travelled to New Zealand without Tevita Pangai Junior, who has remained in Sydney for personal reasons.
Prediction
It feels surreal that into the back-end of the competition, this is the first time we’ll see the Bulldogs and Warriors face off this season.
While the Warriors struggle with consistent performances, the Bulldogs are building well for season 2023.
Despite the Bulldogs missing Pangai Junior, they start off as favourites, and rightfully so for their performances since June.
Bulldogs by 6-plus.

Congratulations to the Warriors - a well deserved win. I have been wondering if Burton is carrying an injury, every man and his dog were taking the kicks, which are usually taken Burton and Flanagan. The Warriors forwards were too strong, and Johnson was really good. Thompson and TPJ would have been handy for the Bulldogs pack who tried hard, but were outmuscled.

What a good result for the Warriors. After losing their last two games by 72-22 They weren't my tip to win tonight. The NZ fans will be loving this, having their team back home and a victory like this.

FULL TIME NZ 42 CBY 18 The scoreline doesn't reflect how much of a contest it was during the majority of the 2nd half. The Warriors gave up a 12 point lead and it seemed the Dogs would run away with it. But, the Warriors rallied hard and just ran away with it with 3 tries in the final five mins. Thanks all for joining. Done for the week. Take care everyone and goodnight
