The Newcastle Knights are at home to the Parramatta Eels and will be happy to focus on football after the re-signing of Kalyn Ponga this week. Join The Roar for live scores from 2pm AEST.

In their four-game losing streak over the past month, Newcastle have been asleep to start matches.

They have scored just 10 points in the first half of those games and they looked particularly clueless last weekend in Wollongong against the Dragons.

The return of Adam Clune from a knee injury will help give them cohesion in attack.

For the Eels, Ryan Matterson has been hampered by concussions and leg injuries the past couple of seasons but Matterson has gone from a NSW Origin squad member to a fringe starter at the Eels.

Brad Arthur played him 56 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Tigers and he produced a season-high 158 running metres and 30 tackles so the talent and output is still there, he just needs to string a few of those kinds of games together.

Junior Paulo is back from suspension at prop, Marata Nikuoke (leg) is out while Reagan Campbell-Gillard is hopeful of overcoming an ankle problem.

I only got to see the first half and wished I missed it too. Newcastle are terrible, hardly first grade standard. It has to come back on the coach as there is some serious talent in the red and blue, talent that is not coming out. Their backline plays look clunky compared to Penrith and Melbourne who play like they are drilled in ball movement. Newcastle play like they go to training, pass the ball a couple of times, have a kick or two then off to the pub. Absolute rubbish.

I'd just like to apologise to all the loyal NRL fans who don't support the knights who had to watch that ineptitude today. We as fans of this rubbish team feel you deserved to watch a more competitive game. So on behalf of the fans of these Muppets, we apologise. Except to the Eels fans who are well entitled to lay the boot in.

While I expect the Eels to win today after they went down to the Tigers last week, I wasn't expecting this performance from the Knights, who should have been on a high after locking in Ponga for 5 more years! Maybe my Broncos could beat them...

Thing is Parra weren’t anything special yet put 39 on and didn’t ever really need to defend their own line. That’s a spoon effort in front of their home crowd.

Under Bennett his game could definitely go to the next level, look what he did to Darius Boyd at Saints.

Really looking forward to the OBrian press conference. I would go with ' I don't want to be the sort of coach that blames the coaching staff but gee this is a poorly coached team'.

I'm not sure I've seen a worse performance all season. Not only have they looked like they don't know how to play, they also look like they don't want to play...

A couple more floggings and AOB will be vying with Trent Barrett for the first coach sacked. Let's just do a coach swap. Neither team could do much worse.

It's like The Knights caught what the Tigers had. Tag and you're it (or a word that rhymes with "it")
