The South Sydney Rabbitohs take on the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles at Central Coast Stadium in Gosford. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.55pm AEST.

There’s a fair bit riding on this one for these sides, with both carrying high expectations this year. A win and consolidation within the 8 becomes a little closer. A loss could easily see the Rabbitohs, in particular, fall outside the 8 for the first time in many years.

The Wests Tigers have now stung two good teams in a fortnight and the Rabbitohs will be hurting after their one point loss.

They have yet to develop any consistency in their game this year and Lachlan Ilias is still finding his way. With the likes of Cody Walker, Cameron Murray and Damien Cook in the line up, their best is surely not far away.

In team changes, Taane Milne is missing through suspension with Isaiah Tass coming in to play his second NRL game. Siliva Havili replaces the injured Jacob Host on the bench

The Sea Eagles right edge defence was in tatters last Thursday night with Siosifa Talakai giving Morgan Harper nightmares. To their credit, the Sea Eagles fought their way back into the contest but it was a tale of too little, too late.

In team changes, Martin Taupau and Sean Keppie both return to the front row with Toafofoa Sipley heading back to the bench. Haumole Olakau’atu, through suspension, and Taniela Paseka, via injury, are both out. Ben Trbojevic and Kurt de Luis come on to the bench. Morgan Harper has been dropped and he is replaced by Tolutau Koula.

Prediction

Manly have been doing ok in the absence of Tom Trbojevic but they are missing more key players tonight.

The Rabbits will be looking to make amends this round and I expect their key players to deliver.

It will be close but I think South Sydney will win in a tight one.

But if Cameron Murray broke his neck would that have been a send-off? What about Golden Boy Nathan Cleary? If someone dumped him on his big melon would that warrant a send-off off instead of a sin-bin in your view?

Geez, pretty hard to judge a game played with 12 players. They most likely would have won otherwise. Don't forget to jump back on when Turbo returns and they win the next couple.

I'm betting that Mansour will be the first to run in off his wing to cut off an attacking play leaving the opposition with an overlap and a 20 metre break. The clown never learns and Demetriou keeps picking him even though Paulo is scoring tries in bunches in the NSW Cup.

I agree jumping and leaving the groined does not constitute driving but holding him, adding his weight, while following him to the ground does. Always has. I have responded in the article this morning which includes a video which I think shows this .

When you see how they land, Lawton lands across him on his belly. His shoulders hit the turf. If he was driving, he would have landed shoulder first Jumping and leaving the ground is what caused the flip. It doesn’t equate to driving

Sorry TB but I would disagree with you view that he didn’t drive him into the ground. The way I see it he actually left the ground (jumped) while still holding Murray and followed him to the ground. That was a shocker and deserved a send off.

It's going to be a battle royal next week to see who the fastest winger in the NRL is, Mansour or Corey Oates.

Manly have every right to be dirty on Adam Gee and Ash Klein; if they bin Tupou for his reckless high shot on Rava there’s no overcompensating for it this week and Lawton is only binned. What annoys me is accidents lead to more severe punishment than deliberate acts. Don’t get me wrong, it was dangerous and he deserved a binning and 2 weeks but the inconsistency of punishing foul play and the clubs who benefit are almost always golden boys like Souths, Roosters and Storm

They missed the GF when Bennett and Reynolds left

I'd hate to see a Souths fan if they ever genuinely cop a mad wrap from the ref's one day

No way was that a send off, sin bin and a couple weeks suspension

So what is a send-off? A broken neck?

I scream Ref's Fault every game do I? Please show me one other time I've claimed the ref has had any impact on a Manly game this season?

Yeah, I think there are some extenuating circumstances for Lawton. He didn’t drive Murray into the ground, he didn’t put the hand between the legs and momentum played a big part But it was a lifting tackle that went pretty badly wrong. The only way it could be worse would be for Murray to land on his head

There's only been two guys sent off for lifting tackles in NRL history. That's a fact. There's been more than two lifting tackles in NRL history. Also a fact. The logical conclusion from those two points is that tonight's decision may have been correct in isolation, but was incorrect based on how NRL refs have judged that tackle over the past 25 years. If this one is the start of a new crackdown on lifting tackles, then I'll stand corrected, but I don't see that happening.

When asked what would have to be done to be sent off he didn't answer, probably realised how stupid he is

They haven’t though, considering there’s only two guys in NRL history who have been sent off for lifting tackles. It’s up to the NRL now to start consistently sending guys off for dangerous throws, otherwise this one just goes down as another inconsistent decision.

Gee HY, you are a tougher judge than I am! Your boys played an incredible game considering they were one down for most of the game. Have faith; you have a number of men to return soon.
