The State of Origin series concludes tonight when NSW take on Queensland at Accor Stadium in Sydney. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 8:05pm (AEST).
This year’s State of Origin is already in Queensland’s hands, but there is still plenty to play for tonight. In front of a home crowd, NSW don’t want to go down in a clean sweep.
After butchering their chance to win in Adelaide, the Blues were comprehensively outplayed 32-6 by the Maroons in Game II. NSW’s’ attack stuttered again in Brisbane and they looked like a team out of ideas.
Some of the team selections to date have been truly bizarre, some forced by injury and others due to form. Starting Cameron Murray and Liam Martin on the bench has also come under scrutiny, and thankfully that has been rectified tonight.
In team changes, Bradman Best has been named for his Origin debut at left centre. Cody Walker, Jake Trbojevic, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Jacob Saifiti and Clint Gutherson all get recalls to the NSW line up.
Before this series began, Queensland were seen as outsiders. Two games in, there are thoughts that another dynasty has commenced. Much was made of the selection at Reece Walsh at fullback. He has hardly made a mistake.
The Maroons pack has been more mobile and this has caused NSW plenty of defensive problems on their edges. Daly Cherry-Evans has been excellent in the halves and his kicking game has been first class.
Just two forced changes for the Maroons, with AJ Brimson in for the suspended Reece Walsh and Corey Horsburgh in for Thomas Flegler.
Prediction
I like the NSW pack in this one. Jake Trbojevic will tighten up the middle and Liam Martin and Cameron Murray should be able to quicken up the ruck speed.
On Queensland’s side, however, is continuity, with only a couple of changes and two wins on the board.
At home, the Blues will be desperate to avoid another loss and I think they will just squeak home.

Penrith cant win without playing the grand final but QLD had already won the games that mattered

What rot! Cleary has been MoM in live games, Moses does okay in a dead rubber.

Wrong pop it should always be presented after the last game that's like saying oh well Penrith is going to win the grand finals so let's award the trophy early everyone win or lose wants to wait for the final game.

Collins efforts literally won the second game and this game. Just being a work horse should not be enough

Origin only exists for NSW, if they don't win anything they threaten to scrap it. Gotta throw em a bone every now and then

Did you notice the passing of Murray, Mosses and Walker it was quick, selective and accurate ( skilled). Less Tedesco pin balling or one out darting when QLD were back pedalling? The blues wingers and centres were actually getting the ball in space.

Did Ghoul just threaten Billy with what the media owners could do to his future.

The immortal Mal Meninga scored 6 tries in 33 Origins. Hammer almost equaled his tally in his 4th game tonight?

Now you stop that. Take your trophy, your lap of honour, bragging rights and when you go take Luai with you

Freddy was probably in the sheds at half time criticizing Walker from going away from the game plan …

Rellum I think Cotter does a lot of second efforts, hard carries, support plays and tackles relentlessly.
