The NSW Blues will be looking to win the State of Origin series tonight when they take on the Queensland Maroons at Suncorp Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:50pm (AEST).
With the first game moved to Townsville, no one expected the massacre that was to come. The 50-6 scoreline was a fair reflection of the game, with the NSW backline terrorising their Queensland counterparts.
We now move to Suncorp Stadium, where Queensland’s winning record is impressive, but they will need more than that to equal the ledger with the Blues.
In a big in, Josh Papalii returns to the front row after serving a suspension, and Christian Welch will be hoping for a much longer stint in the middle.
Andrew McCullough comes in for the injured Harry Grant, with Ben Hunt replacing AJ Brimson as the bench utility. Francis Molo gets his debut off the interchange.
The Blues played flawless footy in State of Origin 1, with the forward pack’s dominance giving the Penrith halves plenty of room to create. There is a clear gulf in talent between the backlines and, given the space created, there was only going to be one end result.
Of course, with a winning team, NSW are only making forced changes.
Jake Trbojevic has been ruled out with a hip injury, with Junior Paulo moves to a starting front row role. Angus Crichton has been named on the interchange and Dale Finucane gets a spot on the extended bench.
Prediction
There is no doubt the Maroons will improve at Suncorp, and the inclusion of Josh Papalii should even up the forward packs.
However, despite getting fewer opportunities, the Blues backline is all class and they should do enough to take the series.

He’s still the best bloody half Queensland have by a mile and as a Manly fan I’m than happy to have him in our side.

That’s getting really old now. Funny how no one ever talks about Tedescos back flip in the Raiders or plenty of others who actually broke contracts which he did not, but hey don’t let the facts get in the way of yet another DCE pile in

Sorry, having watched Maroons strut around for Origin win after Origin win in the last 15 years I say Blues keep the boot on the throat clean sweep this series and win the next ten series on the trot.

Incredible game and credit to the Blues! No sign of Marron's halfback and five eight, were they in hibernation?

I guess Teddy was the best over the 80 minutes, but Latrell was the guy that won it for them when it still needed to be won. Latrell was also very unfortunate to be overlooked for MoM in the first game. Only needs to show up for the third game to be Man of the Series, surely?

Probably, and stick GI in the blues backline and see how many series get reversed.

Tedesco, To’o, Trbojevic, Addo-Carr, even Luai were taking more than their share of hit ups. For a large part, the backs actually did the hard yards for themselves. They kept the forwards a lot fresher to defend. Smart. Or maybe just smarter than Qld.

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, it conveniently wasn't replayed enough to see. Looked like he was turning and the the NSW player flopped when he saw the ball was covered. But the same thing happened to Val Holmes in the second half and it was play on. All I want is the same actions to get same decisions. Calls do affect the result. Qld would have needed 100% of the 50-50s to win tonight, they were not anywhere as good in the backs especially defensively.

Cherry-Evans not a professional foul on the first half? Pretty rich to say that calls affected the result.

Including all those tries that weren’t to be in slow-mo.

Latrell had hold of DCE’s leg, he wasn’t wrenching it or twisting it. That was as potentially season ending as any of the facials… as usual you’re overplaying what NSW do but come Queensland’s turn it’s just a good old fashioned friendly facial. I don’t really mind the niggle, but if you’re going to dish it out you have to be able to take it DCE was running in to niggle Latrell at every opportunity. He got a bit carried away with it and forgot about playing footy

Can’t believe he wasn’t on the bench in game 1. Poor Ben Hunt almost won the Bronco a premiership. The Bronco have been worse since his departure.

Yeah sorry about that Kurt. Perfect record outside of Origin.

Truth be told I'd rather Luai over Munster on form at the moment. I certainly don't want somebody with the disgusting sportsmanship of Arrow anywhere near the Australian side. Maybe Papali'i if he's eligible?

TB. Gagai and Lateral were giving it to each other and are team mates. Facials are annoying and shoves don’t end a blokes season. It’s niggle and league banter but trying to break a blokes ankle or twist a knee is going to far as it can put a player out of the game for a long time.
