It’s a case of premiership fancies versus wooden spoon contenders as the Sydney Roosters take on the Gold Coast Titans at the SCG. Join The Roar for live scores from 3pm (AEST).
The Roosters were made to work for it, but they got back to their winning ways on Saturday with a hard-fought eight-point win over the tenacious Warriors. Sitting inside the top four with a league-best +160 points differential, the Chooks are primed in their quest to make it three straight premierships.
They might need to work for it again, however, with the bottom-four Gold Coast Titans making the ladder-leading Panthers work hard for an eight-point win last week as well. New coach Justin Holbrook has got the Titans playing a lot better than recent years and, although the wins aren’t flowing, they’re a lot harder to play against.
Unsurprisingly, the Roosters have dominated this rivalry. The last five meetings between these sides have gone the way of Easts, with last year’s encounter a particularly bruising 58-6 demolition.
Kick-off: 3pm (AEST)

Only having 1 of 6 first choice edge players (missing 2,3,5,11,12) is showing in attack and being borne out in the line break numbers. Have been getting away with ~3 down but they can't run their offence on the left with a raw edge back rower playing centre inside a 0 line break or try winger. They predictably got torched in defence for speed and positioning too. Nice coaching by Holbrook. It's put extra pressure on Tedesco and limits his effectiveness with more of our attack happening before the line this week. That game plan felt like a state of origin period game.

I'm not sure more than 10% of players know the rules judging by some of the captains arguments.

That's great. Still tough to blame them for the Fox telecast.

It's not that i don't trust the 'voice from above ' , its just that i don't think he knows the rules or actually has eyes! I'm just waiting for the roosters/sharks to be gifted a GF win on the back of a match winning try from an 8 tackle set , a minute after the final siren from the 14th man on the field . This, of course ,followed by the usual apology :silly:

Roosters success obviously upsets you. Change your log on to "ab". A banker.

I was never a fan of Kelly but may change my mind after today's performance. Very strong and great footwork.

Not bad. 2 points are 2 points. playing without both our flying wingers in Tupou & Morris. No Cordner and Crichton. Will get better by semi final time. Nothing to fear.

The voice over said that they checked it first. We just hadn't changed to the replay yet

Maybe his injury robbed him of something. Not sure he's even broken the line for the Roosters let alone scored. Haven't seen anything from him as a rooster.

I’ve barely seen him in a Roosters jumper since he arrived from Leeds. He was a very good player, his record attests time that.

I hear a lot about his caliber and reputation and wish I could have seen him at his best. The way he’s played since being with the club he is offering injury cover at best.

Titans decent effort but had plenty of opportunities. But still, better team lost. Roosters are a rabble that has just come off the scrap heap. Seriously they are just woeful at the moment. Even with some injuries but all teams deal with them at some stage. They are no threat for the premiership this year. Watch them get absolutely smashed by the storm in a couple of weeks

Good 80 minutes from the Titans. Brimson looks good ever if a little rusty. They’ll be a nuisance side this year and good side next year if they can keep their better players on the park. Roosters winning ugly but still winning. Good game from Butcher. He looks so much better on an edge not the middle.

I think it's safe to say that the Roosters aren't peaking too early.

Near enough not good enough. Dragons took that approach. Roosters are beatable, just need belief. Warriors could have, Titans should have, dropped the ball 3/4 times cold when in a scoring opportunity and ref missed the standard Roosters try off a forward pass. Get belief people!

In fairness he’s hardly played a game since coming to the Roosters so it’s likely he’d struggle on one of his really rare appearances. I can’t understand how a player of his calibre is on the books at the Club to have almost zero game time.

Very good game by the Titans, not a very Roosters type game

Bit nervous about that ‘almost certainly won’t win’ call now.
