The NRL Premiership continues this afternoon when the Sydney Roosters play the Parramatta Eels at Suncorp Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4.05pm AEST.
We get a clash of the heavyweights this afternoon, when these two top eight sides look to go one step closer to semi-final action at the end of the season.
The much-fancied Roosters have missed a beat at times this season but they seemed to find something like their best last Saturday night. Sure, the Titans were disappointing, but the 44-16 scoreline suggests that the Roosters attack finally gelled.
James Tedesco was in everything, scoring 3 tries in an impressive performance. The combination between Luke Keary and Sam Walker is slowly coming together and Victor Radley will be primed for a big one against the Eels.
Connor Watson comes in for the injured Sam Verrills. Lindsay Collins’ suspension means Sio Siua Taukeiaho will start and Daniel Fifita will join the bench.
After a poor effort against the Cowboys the week before, the Eels took on the toughest assignment in the NRL last weekend, and won. The 22-20 win over the Panthers ended the premier’s home winning streak and announced another serious contender for this premiership.
The Eels absorbed everything the Panthers threw at them and returned it with interest. Isaiah Papali’i was superb for Parramatta whilst Dylan Brown’s move back to 5/8th proved the right one.
Brad Arthur has the luxury of naming an unchanged team.
Prediction
On form, you’d give this to the Eels after the win against Penrith.
However, I think the Eels may be a little flat after last weekend, whereas the Roosters will be keen to make a big statement.
I think they will deliver an upset.

I agree about Waka at centre, he’s average at best. But at Wing he brings good size running out of the red zone and creates a genuine threat in attacking plays. There is very little for opposition defences to worry about at the moment from the backline once it leaves the hands of brown and Moses

He was also on a scholarship at Kings for Union and as I understand, he was prevented to play for them by Souths, so they were a bit dudded too

Like I told Red Rob... Suaalii received a Big payday from Souths for a junior while he was in the Rabbitohs lower grades and for what? What did Souths get out of it? All to fall to pieces when Nick Politis coached Suaalii to come up with some ludicrous conditions on his Rabbitohs contract that no team would sign allowing a player to walk out without notice. No way those conditions were on his Roosters contract. They gave it lip service but who actually saw it in black and white? No way Politis would have allowed that escape clause. No Roosters players has ever been given that option. The whole thing was a stitch up. Souths were robbed.

BS! Suaalii is a South Sydney junior. That has been well documented. The Panthers already have a quarter of NSW as their junior nursery. Don't get greedy!

When it comes to the chooks Poss it is all i can offer and I felt dirty giving it. :silly: But job well done by your boys. The Bunnies win this week felt like a loss. Any chance of getting our former Rabbitohs back? Actually, Id settle for getting Adam Reynolds back from the Broncos.

Better now in round 10 Ben than late in the season or in the finals. It's hard to play at such an elite level every week. The Panthers learnt that last week against the Eels.

Premiership winning teams don’t have those speed bumps. It’s so typical of us.

Does anybody agree with me that Sam Walker looks like comedian, Hamish Blake?

Congrats Roosters fans. A really good win courtesy of former Rabbitohs and a Broncos junior. :silly: Commiserations Eels fans, especially mighty (Eelsalmighty). Hardly the end of the road for the Eels but a significant speed bump for a team with genuine top 4 aspirations. Same thing for the Sharks.

I remember. No bad feelings about that? My question was in reference to Rabbitohs fans feelings towards South Sydney junior Joseph Suaalii.

The onus falls on the defender. Players aren’t deliberately ducking, to get concussed, and get taken from the field. Defenders need to bend their backs. Hit under the ball. Rugby have been far stricter (in terms of yellows & reds) and you are starting to see a difference.

I certainly don’t disagree - I just get somewhat despondent since every other team between 3rd and 8th spot has won a premiership in the last 30 years

Souths did. He was a South Sydney junior before he became an ingrate and a turncoat. He received a Big payday from Souths for a junior while He was on the Rabbitohs lower grades and for what? Sivo yes, but Blake’s never been as good as BA seems to think he is.
