The two teams struggling most in the current 2022 NRL season meet at Leichhardt Oval in an intriguing Round 11 fixture. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 6pm (AEST).

After the week the Bulldogs have just lived, it is difficult to predict the state of mind that the squad will take into this match.

Trent Barrett has walked away after the most dismal run as coach, Mick Potter has signed on to guide the team for the remainder of the season and Brent Naden has done a quick about turn and will suit up for the Tigers just a few days after wearing the blue and white of Canterbury.

The NRL continues to write the most remarkable of stories and these two clubs are penning more than their fair share, with Wests under enormous pressure to show some consistency in their form after a start to the NRL season that has produced just two wins from ten rounds.

That number matches the Bulldogs’ win column, with only for and against seeing the Tigers holding down 15th spot ahead of Canterbury, as we approach the midway point of the season.

Thus, this fixture presents an enormous opportunity for both clubs to grab a precious two points and keep the hopes of their fans alive in terms of seeing something better in the latter half of the season.

Supporters of the loser in this clash may well lose all motivation to attend NRL matches across the back end of the year, if they had not already, and the benefit of a win here cannot underestimated for two clubs starting from a very low base when it comes to competitiveness in 2022.

Team news sees Jake Averillo and Jackson Topine into the staring line-up for the Dogs, with Naden and the injured Corey Waddell making way.

To make matters worse for the Dogs, Josh Addo-Carr has also been ruled out.

The Tigers are without Luke Brooks thanks to a hamstring injury and Jock Madden comes into the halves to pair with Jackson Hastings.

Prediction

Good luck tipping this one, but with influenza circling the Bulldogs’ camp, the Tigers may well be just a little healthier and hungrier.

The events of the past seven days are likely to have taken a toll on the Canterbury squad, with the general disappointment around recent performances unlikely to be remedied with the appointment of Potter.

Look for the Tigers to bring a powerful forward game and set up a close fought victory through the middle.

Hes just a born organiser TB. He never shuts up, he never stops pointing , he never stops moving. Now he's no JT but the way he barks instructions and points and bounces around really reminds me of the great man. He is very , very good.

Agreed. He’s the textbook example of a talented youngster who can’t quite get it right, but comes back from England a far better player I really like what he’s doing. Smart, good organiser, aggressive, steps up when he’s needed

The Chemics are in the second division last I heard. They might give Trent Barrett a job as their attacking coach.

Yes it is Rugby League, a high level of competence in tackling is essential. He should try Oztag.

Good win Wests. That game took over two hours from kickoff to full time. Too much bunker time for mine.

Will one or both get to 200 games without scoring? I tend to favour Lawrie because he's more likely to barge over at some point.
