The Penrith Panthers are in dangerous form, and that spells bad news for a Wests Tigers outfit with little recent success against the men from the mountains. Join The Roar for live scores of their Saturday-night encounter from 7:35pm (AEST).

Sitting pretty in second at the start of Round 8, the Panthers have been one of the unexpected success stories of the season so far. Today they take on the Wests Tigers, against whom they’ve won five of their last six.

The Tigers are one of the NRL’s great enigmas, capable of producing the sublime and embarrassing from week to week. Last round was certainly an example of the former, Michael Maguire’s men towelling up the lowly Bulldogs to the tune of 34-6.

Wests have gone with an unchanged side on the back of that performance, while there’s just the one change to the Penrith lineup which got the better of Souths last week: winger Josh Mansour comes back into the team for Brent Naden.

Was perfect, in running I didn’t see how he skipped the defender. Beautiful positioning by the support and perfect pass. Lovely stuff

Yeah, if a high shot to the head of a bloke without the ball doesn’t get a red, what is required? Phil Gould would burp up a complaint that the game was getting soft but FFS, RL needs to move into the 21st century

Api Korasau is a super player. Never seen him have a bad game. I wish Manly could’ve kept him. Penthers very solid tonight.. a real threat this year

100% Mansour successfully milked it. Cleary can slot field goals all he likes, but yet to see any smart ball play or putting players into space. Overrated and did nothing in Origin. Tiges slowly starting to show some Madge DNA

Brave effort, Tigers, up until the last few minutes. Certainly not disgraced.

Don't remember the rivalry between these clubs being particularly nasty over the years, so is this bad feeling purely due to the Cleary coaching episode?

Last tackle there should have been a send off. Ref totally lost it.

Ah well, at least it was a good effort, in the past we would have got flogged by a team as good as this Panthers side. The team gave their all, Madge has toughened them up not just physically but mentally.
