Firstly, I don't agree with what Folau posted at all. However, what he posted is something that he truly believes in, so how do we expect him to show remorse for that. He honestly does not believe what he posted was wrong, so he cannot show remorse. We don't have to agree with him, but he has the right to believe what he does.
And I am sorry, but it has to be about comparing the crimes. What Lodge did is far more damaging to the game (which is all that the NRL in interested in) than what Folau did.
The remorse argument is weak IMHO. If Israel Folau's tweets lead to hate crime against the LGBT community, then surely it follows that a wife beater's actions lead to domestic violence against women. Remorse doesn't have anything to do with it.

Matt Lodge did something terrible but he's shown remorse and taken steps to better himself and remedy these demons;
