He was wrong footed.... I agree it didn’t look good and if he had made contact he would have deserved the sin bin..... but despite his ‘intent’ he didn’t touch him. This can this only be called a dive.... do we want that in our game? I for one don’t.....
It was a clear block play straight out of the NFL and a blatant escort Dutski, just like Parker's trip was intentional to stop a try and deserved the sin-bin. It should have been a penalty to Manly no question, and I tipped the Dragons.
Btw, I think DCE did a great job standing up for his side to argue his case. He did not overstep the mark but was clearly and understandably frustrated. Is there ANY doubt that ifs the disadvantaged attacking side was either the Roosters or the Storm it would have been reviewed by the bunker? No, I mean seriously?
Or maybe they should have sent the diver off Peter? As I mentioned above, he didn’t make contact (despite looking like he intended too) . We don’t want to end up like English football.... this needs to be stamped out.
I want to know why frizell was not put on report or charged for the careless hit on brendan elliots head with his shoulder that led him to go to the head bin. No consistency again by this mob after giving fonua blake 2 weeks. Jokers.
Dutski, I agree Parker moved toward the player BUT he didn’t touch him. It was a dive.... if this goes unchecked we will end up like English football. The NRL has to stamp this out very fast.
There will always be whinging about not getting your deserved penalty when the inevitable bomb comes down on the 6th tackle because that is the nature of the bomb. It is the big weakness in the game of Rugby League and it came about because people whinged when field goals became an attractive option the 4/6th tackles. Putting a bomb up has no creative value and it rewards failure to score in the 6 tackles by giving them a lucky dip at a try when a field goal would be a true consolation prize.
So you are saying that if a kick goes thru at any time that you are entitled to run any distance you like for the sole purpose of stopping a player chasing that kick as long as you stop dead. Great way to concede a stack of penalty tries on grubbers.
The ref and touchy did seem to get caught up in all the celebrating of the win it seems. it's almost like logic goes out the door at times. Similar in some ways to when a player gets crunched and the ball clearly goes backwards but they rule a knock on as a reaction rather than following the rules.
The player did get 'there' and hold his ground but it wouldn't matter if he held his ground or not , his sole purpose was to prevent the attacker challenging for the ball and that is illegal.
DCE should've thanked the refs for not sending the tripper off but he was just trying to get a penalty to give his team a chance to win. Ben Hunt's kicking was great and gave the Dragons another win.
In the upcoming referees training they’ll be using this as a clear example of an “escort”.
Refs boss Graham Annesley has said they got it wrong.
Funnily enough, it doesn’t really bother me. Kinda used to the inconsistency and ineptness.
More proud of the way the team have come together. Heart has been missing for a few years now.
This is what the ref said to DCE:- "..Daley, in our opinion he's taken position early. He's allowed to be there. He doesn't get there at the same time...". I agree that not one commentator (on Fox Sport at least) said the call was right, but that does not necessarily make it an incorrect call. I am simply agreeing with the officials who are expected to know the rules intimately.

Gravity and momentum should both have been put on report instead.

I would have been happy if the penalty was called.
