agreed. delighted to see that at least the match review panel had the sense to charge him. the worst grub in the game. interesting that so often his grubby little acts and late hits and high shots are on players smaller than him (i suppose in fairness, that is most of them) or not watching.
I don't think there's any doubt the tackle was late, but I'm equally sure the total incident should have resulted in a Roosters penalty from all the second efforts from the Knights guys, "defending" their man and trying to clean up JWH.
What you say is spot on as well as the comment from DS above. It was a blatant illegal tackle, deliberate as they come except in the ref's eyes which brings us back to two age old rules; Rule No 1......The ref is always right. Rule No2.......When the ref is wrong, go back to Rule No1.
It was massively late. JWH takes two steps and even adjusts his line slightly after Ponga has kicked it.
Only redeeming feature is he missed Ponga’s head with the coat hanger and the headbutt. Still managed to grind his head into Ponga’s while he was on the ground, which he’s been doing a lot of lately.
Not the worst late tackle you’ll ever see, but probably more through luck than judgement. A late tackle still warrants a penalty, even if it’s not high.

It was late and generally a low act by a serial grub.

Ridiculous tackle. I heard many saying that Napas flying headbutt tackles were legal also.

The hit on Keary was also questionable, but more careless than deliberate . It was an aggressive game on both sides.

Rusted on Knights supporter here. Completely legal unlike most of the things Hargreaves does.

Late, had time to look at ref then hit Ponga in a deliberate spiteful attack. Grub act.

It was a completely legal hit. Pressure on the kicker, not too late and below the neck. Exactly what you want your forwards to do.
