The New Zealand All Blacks host Ireland in the first of three Test matches as the international rugby season gets underway. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:05pm AEST.

The All Blacks are missing several players due to COVID but they won’t be treating that as an excuse should they lose.

“This is doubly exciting for us playing at a packed Eden Park for our first test of the year, leading into a sold out series,” Coach Ian Foster said.

“After what seems like a long time away from home, it couldn’t be scripted better to be back in front of our fans for this match.”

“Whilst this week hasn’t exactly gone to plan for us, our overall preparation has gone really well.”

Ireland have been somewhat of a bogey team for the All Blacks and while winning at Eden Park is a different kettle of fish, a win in Dublin back in November will still be fresh in their mind as will be their wins in 2018 and 2016.

“We have talked about it. History does not lie, does it? That is why I said what I said before with regards to what is coming, what is going to be good enough and what is not going to be good enough,” coach Andy Farrell said.

And axe murderer you feel is acceptable? I mentioned someone having passion and you have blown out of proportion. I have not seen you pull others up for worse comments. Again using axe murderer is poor form.

I was simply making the point that 2 wrongs do not make a right. Because others might behave badly is no excuse. If your standards are such that you feel the comments by West are acceptable well you have a problem. Those sort of comments would not be acceptable in the work place or in social gatherings. Why should they be acceptable on this website

But you talk about an axe murderer, which is worse especially in a court of law? Grow up and stop being so precious.

He has used an axe murderer as a reference Winston. One wonders about him.

An axe murderer? What an over the top comment, you certainly are not respected by me after that bizarre comeback.

What’s the relevance of that- this is a Rugby website . But if behaving as a grub is OK by you no point in my saying anymore.

So if your next door neighbour is an axe murderer it’s ok for you to be an axe murderer. Stop trying to defend the indefensible, but if that is standards by which you conduct your life well that’s your problem - but please do not expect to be respected

Scott Barrett is a ??? Too late citing him after the game. But what else do we expect. You're the best team in the world, I don't know why you do this shit and more to the point, why you get away with it, right in front of the ref. It's like you can't be touched. That folks, is why we get pissed off.

The Irish websites are already saying he’s not playing. He has a history of concussions so would likely fail to make the 7 day exemption.

that sounds like a big whinge to me Nick. They copped a 6 trys to 3 hiding and you want to blame a ref who did his best all night to keep Ireland in the game.

Well done ABs. There was still a sense in this game that ABs individual talent won against a better coached team.
