The Wallabies will take on the All Blacks in a crucial second Bledisloe Test at Eden Park from 5:05pm AEST.

Australia must win to keep the series alive and the All Blacks can retain the trophy with a game to spare with another win over their old foe. After an entertaining opening match there’s lots to be excited about and to look out for so be sure to join The Roar for live scores and a blog.

Some have likened the Wallabies to Tom Cruise and the challenge ahead of them as Mission: Impossible (although how impossible these missions can really be when in all six so far they’ve ended up being….well….possible as it turns out!) But we should forget the stats about how long it’s been since the Aussies won in Eden Park or won the Bledisloe Trophy and focus on the present. With their selections for this match the Wallabies are clearly taking action to fix some of their weak points from last week.

Lachie Swinton is in to bring more aggression to the loose. Matt Philip is into the second row to improve the line out that struggled so much in the opening 30 minutes. Matt To’omua moves to the centres to improve distribution and Marika Koroibete retains after suspension bringing exciting strike power.

These selections are in line with issues the Wallabies faced in game one. But will they make the difference?

For the All Blacks the only change to the starting line up sees Reiko Ioane move to centre to replace Anton Lienert-Brown with Will Jordan joining the side to start on the wing with the three Barrett boys still on the bench.

The real area to watch in this game is going to be upfront. There has been lots of talk about how the Wallabies believe they can dominate the All Blacks pack and Dave Rennie has picked plenty of power in his starting line up and on the bench to deliver on this ambition. The battle in the back row will be fascinating to watch especially as Lachie Swinton and Rob Valetini look to take on Akira Ioane and Ardie Savea.

Prediction:
Andrew Kellaway said this week that “Maybe the aura has worn off [the All Blacks] a little bit.” Poking the bear isn’t usually a good tactic and you get the feeling that New Zealand are going to be far too much in all aspects of the game for the Wallabies this weekend.

well they played better than the WBs....a bit ungracious I think....very beatable...all Teams are very beatable.....even the ABs - but it will take a very good Team to do it on any given day....

there was likely more at actual Church the following morning than watched the ABs... given NZs ever growing secularism thats quite ironic. anyway decent contest....

Two weekends in a row at the same venue probably didn't help. And to be fair what I heard they were charging to attend too seems a bit hefty...even for the all blacks!

not many turned up to church Sat night... If rugby is a religion in NZ its in the sense that just like religion put to the test its not nearly as popular as people think... certainly not as popular as you'd like it to be

I love the passion of WB supporters. But the ABs are probably the best sporting team of all sports over the past 120 years. The WBs have beaten the All Black's more than any other team ever, winning 45 out ot 171 matches. For comparison the Boks have won 36 out of 99; England have won 8 out of 42 and the Lions 7 out of 41. Can the WBs create a winning run against the ABs? Yes, they've done it before. This current team has everything going for it. The coaching team is top class, the supporters are determined, the players need more big games but are young and still inexperienced. The ingredients are there. Just wait, they can do it, but the ABs won't roll over easily. The next 5 years will be great.

It’s that way because it’s not just the number one footy code in NZ, but the #1 sport full stop, with the all blacks worshipped. Plus you don’t actually have much genuine competition where the sport is as culturally prominent as in NZ. (Fiji, Samoa, Tonga?) If rugby union was the number one footy code in Australia, I dare say you’d be in trouble vis a vis the bledisloe. It’s disingenuous not to acknowledge the massive advantage NZ has with it being the #1 sport and culturally dominant national team. Your only consistent international rival is South Africa, with Australia, France & England being the other nations that can hope to sporadically challenge NZ in this sport.

And don't forget woodart that NZ has lost it's past two series, and last six straight tests to Australia, despite the fact that NZ won the inaugural ICC TC recently

Yeah nah, ya dreaming cobber. NZ rugby at the top levels have always been professional, even in the amateur days. I like to think it was the nonsense approach to organising and the way we played rugby in those days. I remember the Scottish broadcaster McLearen (?) being in NZ for the 87 World Cup. He traveled to Masterton for one of the games, he got lost. Seeing a farmer working in a paddock he stopped to ask directions, the framer sized him up and in a no nonsense response, pointing with his pan sized hands he said, “go down this road, hang a left at the cemetery and follow your bloody nose back to Wellington!”. To the point with no extras, he said this was the attitude of NZ rugby back then. If that’s a religion then guilty.

Specifically, there has been very poor management by CA in the past decade or more,, and the Sheffield Shield has been treated incredibly poorly, and is in a sad state now, compared to the greatest first class comp in the world it was previously. Pitches have declined from the great natural variety there was once present throughout the past, and even the Bellerieve curator has been instructed to leave the grass off, instead of batsmen adjusting to dealing with the difficult batting conditions. The administrators' love of income has seen the mickey mouse BBL cash cow now pushing the Shield out of it's prime Summertime slot, where now there's two months plus of prime Summer season with no first class cricket being played! CA is now resorting to using the pandemic as an excuse to cancel Shield rounds, such is their disinterest in the comp that develops our next generation of talent.

Mate when your contribution to the All Blacks consists of sitting in your lounge room watching TV you can't expect to take credit for anything they do.

He should've passed to the man next to him,Hooper, who was running an unders line against a drifting Ioane. It's not even clear who exactly is the intended recipient of the wide ball. Matt T was great last year until his injury but I think maybe he should stick to SR from now on.

The Wallabies are just not smart any more. We used to outsmart the All Blacks. I really did not think the all blacks were all that good last night. Very beatable. Intercepted passes and lazy defence in the second half lost them the game. Some great smart play at times in the 1st half, but too many dummies in the team. Give up the cut out ball when opposition are in you backline, tackle the man with the ball, don't drop the ball, throw straight in a line out... Basic stuff, cost them 35 points, 17 of which when oppositionwas down a man. Just really dumb stuff . Let's pick smart young players with skill, and give up on the big bodies with no skill.
