The Wallabies will be hoping to make it a clean sweep of Argentina when the two sides meet in San Juan. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 5:10am AEST.
Wallabies coach Dave Rennie has opted James O’Connor to start at No.10 over Noah Lolesio for the second Test against Argentina on Sunday.
Reece Hodge, who took over the reins from Quade Cooper after 48 minutes of Australia’s 41-26 win in Mendoza, is on the bench as Rennie changes tack from a 6-2 split to a 5-3 combination.
With Allan Alaalatoa having left Argentina due to a family bereavement, Pone Fa’amausili takes a place on the bench and is the only potential debutant in the 23.
It will be nervous times for the Wallabies who can’t afford any more injuries and James O’Connor is a risky move for that very reason after a recent knee injury.
The No.10 is clearly a problematic role for Rennie and there have been reports that Japan-based veteran Bernard Foley will be joining the camp when the Wallabies return home.
Despite all the doom and gloom about injuries, the Wallabies did manage to get a win last week and they’ve shown they have the strength of character to get it done away from home. How will this one play out?

As much as Richie seemed to escape being penalised for infringements I don’t recall him committing foul play and getting off like Matera does.

It’s sometimes hard to distinguish the difference.. my comment stands.

No.... the operative word was ARTICLES...... not comments, whether they are from geniuses or not.... :stoked:

Imagine if Dan MacKeller does become coach. Look forward to a borefest of endless mauls. Add Stan/Gem awful commentary and I fear folk will just abandon rugby...!

No it’s the game plan, the 10 executes and directs the game plan at that level. Rennie game plan was to play off 12 channel most of night and use JOC as second phase receiver. Again I didn’t think any wallaby played well except for Pone and Pete Samu off the bench.

Roar Rookie
Absolutely but in fairness to Wright, he’s not the one selecting himself at 15

Campbell is a far better prospect than Petaia.

Criticism is analogous to opinion. Everyone has one, and at some time, in some context, they stink.

As sayeth the geniuses on this site… so where is the improvement after his watch?

An oversimplification possibly but no less than the criticism that Cheika copped. Rugby Australia needs fixing and has for a decade, nothing under tge current set up provides confidence of any rebuild

Sorry mate but you might want to read some old articles on the Roar while Cheika was coach....... Cheika is a one trick pony that lives or dies on his assistants..... (probably like Rennie  )

From the outside looking in (I only see gameday performances), Jock Campbell looks to have a far better skillset to play 15 than does Petaia. I appreciate that he didn't come through the pathways, didn't play 1st XV at school, was small as a junior and had to develop other skills to compete against the more athletic kids.

Agree that Valetini was ok. I think he is being asked to perform a role that he is not suited to. Valetini would almost be my first picked Wallaby forward as I rate him so highly. He would be wearing number 6 though.

So JOC was okay but Valetini was terrible? Interesting perspective.

well we picked like for like so not sure it would have solved much if it was the problem.

Yet again, Dan McKellar's Brumbies selection bias plays out for all and sundry witness.

With respect Tom, an oversimplification, arguably.
