Super Rugby Pacific round 11 wraps up with one of the clashes of the weekend as the Brumbies welcome the Hurricanes to GIO Stadium, Canberra. Join The Roar for live scores from 2:00pm AEST.

This is an intriguing game and a great way to wrap up the weekend and there are mouth watering clashes all over the park to enjoy.

The Canes have given a starting spot to super sub Jackson Garden-Bachop, who will partner with TJ Perenara. On the other side will be Nic White and Noah Lolesio. TJ v White is going to be a fantastic battle to keep an eye on.

The Canes are missing a few players in the forwards but have been able to keep Aardie Savea fit and firing and the number eight’s work in both attack and defence is going to be a big factor as to whether the Canes can get a rare victory in Canberra. He’ll be going up against an impressive back row from the home side with Rob Valetini, Jahrome Brown and Pete Samu creating a powerful and well balanced unit.

In the centres there is another exciting match up with the Kiwi pair of Peter Umaga-Jensen, Bailyn Sullivan going head to head with Wallabies Irae Simone and Len Ikitau.

Up front it’ll be a special day for Canes prop Tyrel Lomax as he plays at the same ground where his dad became a club legend for NRL side the Canberra Raiders. Having picked up two tries last week against the Reds, much is expected of Lomax both at the set piece and in the loose.

The Brumbies will want to do what they did to the Highlanders last week and put them away early with an intense opening quarter. The Canes will know that they can’t let the Brumbies get away to the same fast start. They managed to chase down the Reds last week but as Canes coach Jason Holland explained this week, “The Brumbies are a step up from the Reds in our eyes,’’ and so the Kiwi side must be focused and better.

After the Autumn series I am sure both NZ and Aus rugby feel that this is good for both Unions. Before this, NZ players did not have enough adversity leading to RC and Autumn series. WBs have to challenge ABs to have the confidence to take on the world. The more competition between them the better for each on the world stage. Like I said Bled next.

What seems to be happening is that Nz teams thought it would be the same from last year. That they could always outscore Aus teams inspite of slow starts - they will not wake up after this last week to realise that these are not going to be easy games.

O’Keefe is an ok ref. Williams is prone to a shocker I won’t argue with you there.

Yeah the first try was a bit soft and lazy by the Crusaders, but Tahs were really switched on and hit the line and gaps hard.

It is more the lack of cohesion and unforced errors plus poor discipline that is mind boggling.

In addition to the lack of vision of the grounding, I have a question about it being allowed to even get that far. Both of Umaga-Jensen's knees very clearly hit the ground a good 2m from the try line. Under current law interpretations, as much as I dislike them, he is considered tackled at that point and must play the ball (as well as tacklers release). Being that far out from the line, surely any attempt to score a try rather than play the ball backward would be considered not releasing.

Oh yea, I wasn’t being a d ick, it was more frustration that we were leaking points so fast. I mean they didn’t even get worn down, it was just Blam! And their in.

Why is it mind boggling? The “unforced errors” are quite often forced through rush defence and the fact imo, Aussies are tackling harder. Kiwi sides are not getting over the gain line as easily. This is our “progression” I think. Plus we are way fitter than last year.

I agree, as i gave Brumbies player of the game to Simone. He has improved so much since coming to the Brumbies.

I realised when I write that, but I mean putting aside the try…Edmed had a strong carry in the lead up, that type of thing.

“you could tell after 5 mins the Tahs had turned” Yea, because they had gone and bloody scored a try already! LOL It’s true though, those first few minutes says so much. I in my nightmares I still remember that Semj final with England, and after 5 mins (where they scored too, with ease), you knew we were in trouble.

He certainly got them to a point where they were better than the Highlanders and Canes, but on the three occasions last year that they played anything like a first string Crusaders or Chiefs team they melted. Now they are so resilient, hallmark of a Schmidt team.

"Like those nice guys dressing in brown in Germany during the 30s?" Unlike in Sweden in the 30s when everyone was getting around in Mick Jagger hairstyles!!

That's why I was asking you! I'd really have to consider combinations I think and that would definitely take some thought especially around how I want them to play. I'll get back to you!

It’s funny you say that, about 20 years ago when the results went both ways, I could tell in the first 10 mins if the Aussies had turned up to play. Like last night - you could tell after 5 mins the Tahs had turned up.

We’re at 12 of 15 rounds. See how things stack up between now and then. Find out what these teams are made of in the playoffs  Dave Rennie will be happy after this round

I really hope they’re available as the second choices are so inferior to them… Even Hooper is perhaps easier to replace despite being our best player as McReight is still really good. My feeling is that in that case it should be 9. White, 10. JOC, 13. Ikitau. I really don’t know about 12! What do you think?

Yep in 2019 or 2020 from memory the Brumbies beat the Chiefs and the rebels beat the Highlanders. Both in NZ. I very much hope we are going to have a few Australian refs in the New Zealand games given we had to cop Ben O'keefe (Tahs) and Williams (Reds) blowing penalties all game against the Tahs and Reds scrums. May well have been justified a few times but not the astonishingly 14 off to nil.
