Albo,
Glad it worked out well for your young bloke. I hope Baseball isn’t the common dominator! 😂
Dan did really well in swimming, then focussed on Water Polo. He’s successful in business in the finance area so the other kids didn’t scar him, they were just being kids.
After I spoke with them they felt bad but they weren’t meaning to be hurtful.
Cheers mate

Hardwick & Hemsley, what a pair! I like to think they arrived at Leichardt on Harleys.

I was a designated fielder, I was “Joe the cameraman”: Couldn’t bat, couldn’t bowl but only ever dropped one catch. Mind you it was a hat trick ball and an easier catch you couldn’t ask for!!!!!

Cam,
if you break the contract you pay the price. WT had to honour the contract by paying MM what he was due, he just had to stop coaching! 😂

DT,
as soon as you say “woke” in any form you’ve lost the argument in my books.
Newscorp and the others will dredge it up when the legal proceedings begin and I’m sure we’ll hear more about “wokery” then too, until RS settles out of court with an NDA and it all goes away again.

Ben,
I’ll give you an example from the same age cohort as Ricky is referring to here.
I coached our Baseball Club’s first U14 team. The first time the league had this age group. My son who had been around baseball since he was born decided he wanted to play, without any pushing from me. He was very very good, the best player in our team, close to the best in the league.
Anyway we made the Grand Final and in the last inning my son made a throwing error which allowed the other team to go ahead and win the game. Just bad luck, wasn’t the only error by our team but it was the last one. All the right things said to the team etc etc., let’s come back next year.
Next year we start pre-season, my son isn’t keen any more, doesn’t want to come to practice and finally says he’s not playing. The other kids in the team are pestering me with “where’s Danny?” etc, they really wanted him to play.
So I talked to Daniel and he finally told me that some of the kids in the team said bad stuff to him about his error and blamed him for the loss. Ok, now we understand. He stuck with Swimming and Water Polo to National level and never played another game of Baseball, the game I loved.
When they asked me again I told the team maturely why Daniel wasn’t going to play with them anymore. They were upset that he wouldn’t play and we discussed why. They could barely remember, if at all, if anything was said.
We moved on, I continued to coach the team and we won that year, I coached some of those same kids to a big win with our Representative team and the kids grew up and went on with their lives. I bore no grudge and none of them became axe -murderers. They still say hello.
12 year olds, boys especially have no impulse control. They do and say things without thinking and usually without malice and should not ever be judged later for that. We’ve all been there. It’s just something they grow out of and we as adults need to do the adult thing.
I could have been bitter because of my loss, not seeing my son play my game but I wasn’t because I knew better. I knew the kids weren’t bad mean kids, they were just kids, and it could easily have been my child at any given point!
I was not as old, not as experienced and worldly as RS, but I was adult about it and that is why I’m extremely disppointed with what RS did, and why I don’t think that someone who abuses a 12 year old boy, because that’s what he did, has any place in sport.
Cheers

GBS,
it might help it to go away, and help RS move on if he actually genuinely apologised to the person he hurt? You know, be the adult in the room?
It won’t be long and everyone who wants to has had a say and something else will push it out of the news. Until it gets raked up again during the legal case.

Noel,
it’s not a possibiliity.
““We have a contract. It’s in black and white and has been signed by both parties and we’re very comfortable with where we sit,” Hagipantelis told SEN.”
““It’s well known that we enjoy a contractual relationship with Isaiah and we very much look forward to welcoming him to the club in 2023.””
It’s clear WT are sure of their contract so it’s all just sooking in the media from the player, probably at the behest of his Agent.

Greg,
his partner is an NZ netballer so he is clearly thinking Warriors on “compassionate” grounds. However, she was an NZ netballer when he signed the deal so stiff cheese is the answer to his request for release.
Despite what a lot of people say, NRL contracts are binding and players don’t “break” them unless they want to sit out of the game so I’m going to call he ends up at WT after all.
