The Highlanders take on Moana Pasifika in the first game of Round 8 in Super Rugby Pacific. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:05pm AEST.
The Highlanders narrowly lost to the Crusaders but the scoreboard made it look closer than it probably was with the Crusaders dominating the set piece.
The Highlanders welcome back Ethan de Groot and Jermaine Ainsley and they’ll be hopeful of piling on the points as unbackable favourites.
However, as we’ve seen this tournament the Moana side is no pushover and they’ve stayed in the fight for long periods against decent opposition.
Venue: Forsyth Barr Stadium

Highlanders take on the Canes at home next time. MP Head to Hamilton to take on the Chiefs, should be interesting? MP need to tidy up on their discipline.. but can still look dangerous at times.

Just back from the game, stopping via the ROAR before further lubrication. That was a really hard watch. Not great skill levels, big big hits all night Moana Pacifika defensive maul work will continue to hurt them, 3 conceded last week 5 this week. Shame we lost Frizzel so early, but he looked ok on the bench so maybe so as bad as it first looked. Normal story for the home team, the big names carrying some pretty average talent. Off for a further Speights or two.

Highlanders controlled the last three quarters so well but credit to Moana Pasifika for taking a rare chance and staying in the game until the last five or ten minutes. They have character.

MP need to fix their discipline and defending mauls bloody quick.

MP remind me a lot of the Jags in the early days. You can see the team style and skill there and how they want to play, but fitness, composure, and discipline creep in through the course of the game. 60mins in and they were still there or there abouts. And then it fell apart. Give it time (and resources) and they will come right. Very much looking forward to see how it all plays out in a few weeks when the trans-Tasman games begin.

Fakatava hands on the ground past the ball, should have been a penalty the other way

The Highlanders win the penalty to have the game in control.

And the conversion attempt is a shocker, Hunt is having a bad game off the boot.

Once again the rolling mauls adds yet another try for the Highlanders, the game looks to be theirs now.
