The Reds entertain the Blues in Brisbane in this trans-Tasman clash at Suncorp. Join The Roar from 7:45pm AEST for all the fun.

With the Reds fourth in the Aussie conference and the Blues bottom in the NZ conference, this is a virtual dead rubber. Both can only dream of semi-final footy this year.

But these two old powerhouses and traditional rivals will be playing for pride when they lock horns. There is still plenty on the line in this one, not to mention international honours in a World Cup year.

Queensland are coming off a loss to the Jaguares in the last round. For this clash they have made three changes to the starting XI with Izack Rodda replacing Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, Alex Mafi starts in place of Brandon Paenga-Amosa, and Scott Malolua getting the nod.

Moses Sorovi is back and takes his spot on the bench.

Auckland have been weakened with several of their key players rested because of national team duties. They are coming off an epic 22-22 draw with the Bulls last round.

All Blacks Patrick Tuipulotu and Rieko Ioane are both missing, while in the halves Augustine Pulu and Otere Black. Injuries continue to bite into the Blues’ line-up with no SBW to call on.

Expect a big battle in the scrum where the Kiwi outfit is particularly strong.

Prediction
It has been a bludger of a season for both teams. But as they looks likely to be Samu Kerevi’s last game at Suncorp, it could be the trigger for the Reds to fire in a close one. But don’t bet the farm on it.

Reds to win by three.

RUBBISH AGAIN look at the table right now they just needed a couple of wins from the close matches. close matches that were lost by thier inept 10 !!! just ass 8 points and they will be right nextt o Hurricanes - if only they had a reliable 10 who could kick relatively easy kicks. look at the try bonus points / look at the losing bonus points / look at the points differential / they just lost matches they would have won with a proper 10 - that is the simple fact. no matter Graham henry coaches them - still he cannot go on the filed and be a proper 10 !!! Cheer up Gloria, At least you can see a winning QLD side win over in Perth on 23rd June 2019. I won’t to upset you , because you Reds won’t have seen for a while, but it’s a 60,000 sell out over here in Perth. Like they say; Good things comes to them who wait. Hopefully we get successful NRL team to give us, Western Aussies some pride back. Obviously the Western FARCE been a total ‘train wreck ‘since their inception. I personally can’t stand watching the Circus act at HBF stadium this year. Who have FARCE played & beaten this year? Answers on a Postcard Please? PS, I cant read Cantonese.

Ok so Leon doesn’t go what then? This blues squad is poor again. Not the worst in 15 years but not far off. Leon is decent but this job needs a big coach. Blues should be on permanent lookout and be prepared to grab the best person when immediately available.

when is a player tackled and held ??? i have seen many such tackles where the ref said " not held". many a player had gone to ground , knees hit the ground and then just get up and run coz they are not held. so what is the definition of held?? was Pulu held in the tackle ? did he knock oon in trying to place and regather the ball ? did he let go of the ball adequately? how do u define letting the ball go and regathering ? also another strange point is the TMO did not think there was any foul in the act of scoring he was more concerned about the previos phase where Gibson let go of the ball - was it a knock on ? one thing was for sure - no help wud have come to Pickle from the touchie , who is trying to rewrite laws when he refs !!!

" LEON HAS TO GO - he is even more out of his depth than Tana" RUBBISH :D it not the fault of the coach who inherited a club level squad without a proper 10. a decent 10 would have won Blues at least 3 -4 matches that they lost , by kicking the goals!!! so silly how some people have forgotten the very first match vs Crusaders.

How is an NZ ref officiating a NZ team v Oz team in Australia in any way like a Saffa ref blowing his whistle at home? The no-try decision was unfortunate for the Blues, but unfortunate doesn't mean wrong. Pulu did everything right except take his hands off the ball before picking it up. As a Reds fan I have mixed feelings about the result. Nice for a bunch of players to have a win in their last home game, but those leaving mean next season is "ground-hog day" for rebuilding with inexperienced players who will learn from a bunch of losses. Thorn still hasn't managed to get his players running off the ball when on attack. The Reds are the most static team I've ever seen. There's a reason they look inept in attack as a team yet have players with good attacking skills. The Reds "player" who needs the biggest amount of off-season work for next year is Coach Thorn. I hope he's up to it.

Speaking to few blokes from Reds set up after the game riddler, it's a done deal apparently and no turning back. He made the decision a long while ago, probably when he wasn't at the top of his game like now. There's whispers of a handy replacement though. Great buzz after the win, mate. Not a big crowd but all true believers. So much better than losing. Enjoyable game to watch..... we got to see the great Nonu put on a gem.

The Blues need Brad Thorn to start a cultural revolution. Burn it down and rebuild!

Gloria, 6 wins is still only 6 wins. Same as the dismal year of 2018. Coach is a failure and is terrible. No better than Richard Graham (very little anyway). 2020 looks disastrous with the players leaving and the discontent growing. It's tdisappointing rhat a once proud powerhouse of Aussie Rugby has been reduced to one that constantly makes excuses for seasons results .

Jeez with only 8 Blues players on the field, the Reds should have won by more

There is only one 'reality' the Reds won and the Blues lost. Well done the Reds good effort.

Couldn’t agree more Mark. Wonder if Joe might be talked into it. The most obvious work-on for NZR at present. Only genuine ABs there Ma, Reiko and Ofa. Everyone else fourth in line or so. Papali’i looks like a bonehead with that swinging arm at the front of the line out. And his yellow was fully paid up. He’s being badly coached because he looks genuine talent. Don’t get me started on Akira. Don’t mind Nanai but hardly forcing his way in.

Blues were extraordinarily lucky not to have two yellows, one saved by a try which looks like a loophole in the laws to me. Really could easily have been three. On top of that the ref was very lenient on Blues at the ruck. I think now as I did yesterday the right result despite the ref. The reality of this Reds is not good. That said six wins isn’t too far off.

Pathetic Leon has to go - he is even more out of his depth than Tana Why do the Blues keep appointing Coaches who have never won anything or even looked like they are going to win anything And then why do they keep them on for 3, 4 years If they keep Leon - it'll be another 3 years of total failure Its about time they appointed someone with a history of winning championships - not just being an ex AB The Blues have the largest commercial and player base and yet we have no 1st five no fullback no hooker no locks no no. 6 no no. 8 no half back In fact if it wasn't for Nonu and Reiko the Blues wouldn't have a single decent player How is this possible How is it the Bryn Hall and Braydon Ennor play for the Crusaders How come every player the Blues let go to another franchise becomes an AB whilst we are stuck with talentless boofheads

For the sake of Queensland rugby, let’s get this in perspective. The Reds scrape a lucky win against the worst performing NZ side, at home, with a lot of help from the referee. That is the reality. When the alcohol wears off, face it.

When they finally hold that royal commission into Suspected Pro Waratah Bias in Australian Rugby, the hearings that deal with how Wyclif Palu managed to somehow play 57 tests will make for some very interesting listening.

I'd be concerned about NZ's largest city losing to almost everyone and with worse playmaker issues then the Reds.
