They might have had their differences on the pitch… but Michael Hooper put that aside to deliver Romain Poite a lovely farewell gift after his final match as referee.
Nice touch Australia.. Its a classy gesture.. In this current climate of ref bashing, the players themselves are showing some decency and appreciation for his contributions to the sport....sure he did not have a great match on Saturday.. I guess certainly according to many here is why the Wallabies lost.. Luckily he wasnt running the whistle previous losses against Scotland.. Might have got blamed for that too.

I'm thinking that would be a bad idea. I can just see him out in the carpark struggling to fit it in his car boot and swearing (Merde!!) and being all what the hell am I supposed to do with this??!!
He's prickly enough as it is best not provoke him!
Nice gesture and perhaps some of the posters who are so aggressive toward match officials and the opposition might learn something about the spirit of the game from this presentation
A fine tribute to the deserving Romain Poite.
The linesman on the left stands back anonymously to watch, dignify and enjoy the moment.
A fool - an ignorant fool - pushes past behind Hooper to distract the participants, hurries past again; picks up his damned mobile phone to stand ever so importantly in front of the cameraman and then moves aside to stand in front of the cameraman! Self-absorbed drongo!
On first glance it looked like a solid stick Hooper was going to hit Poite with.
Nice gesture though and the banter with the ref was a fun part of the game. He was not the reason we lost. AAA glanced the guy's face and gave the chance for a penalty, Paisami cleared out too far past the ball, wright was silly, JOC didn't kick out, we dropped the ball in a lineout maul near the end etc.

Not the main reason we lost. Poor execution, errors etc.

DA, Roman could’ve had the didge during the game as an alternative whistle

Pretty sure that's a didgeridoo, rather than a telescope/binoculars (which might have been helpful) ;)
