By The Roar / Editor

Will Lachie Swinton be free to play for the Wallabies against France?

Seems Rennie was right on the money. I knew when it happened the Red card was harsh. I think a lot are letting their preconceptions cloud their objectivity when it comes to Swinton. Jordie Barrett’s was almost the same and only a penalty. You can say the Ref got it wrong at the time but it wasn’t even considered to be worth the match review committee’s time to issue an off field yellow and warning. It was well worth the appeal

LOL love the sarcasm. The abs will be licking their lips seeing two spuds in that backrow.Valetini will be doing all the work himself.

What I get from this is Rennie came into the job believing his squad was light on mongrel, he feels Lachie has it, and wants to train it to stay on the field.

I hope Warner gets called up when Swinton gets his 6 week ban

Actions that bring with them suspension always supersede a standard ‘penalty only’ offence.

What a crap comment from DR. He’s sounding more and more like Cheika blaming everyone else and not taking responsibility. It was a mutton move by a player who has no discipline and who also isn’t that tough. He was easily contained in the TT and the French will laugh at him as well

Perhaps, but it wasn't one ref in the heat of the moment. It was reviewed by both the ref and the TMO, and they concurred it was only a penalty. And nothing came of it after the event, so that judgement was essentially ratified by the rest.

No it shouldn't, unless it's deliberate like retaliation. By overturning they're trying to punish effect not the cause. If Chiefs player didn't violate the rules Swinton wouldn't have violated them either (well not sure cause it's Swinton after all but other more accurate player wouldn't)

Dave, I like you and I like Lachie - this is 5-6 weeks though. Eliminate this from your game Lachlan.

Yep, ugly, nasty and very kiwi-esque. Interesting to see Rennie talking about the ‘dark arts’ today. There may be some spice in the Tests later this year.

Geeez RedW, using facts to counter a kiwi narrative – give yourself an uppercut and take yourself off to the sin bin immediately!

The refs got Jordie Barrett call wrong as it is not in line with World Rugby’s protocol. Swinton may find that consistency in SR or another ref made a mistake is not a defence.

You need 16 to beat the ABs. If Swinton backfires ... it will be on Rennie.

Also go back and watch Sevu Reece drop his knee into Alex Newsome’s head as he scores that late try in the Tahs Crusaders game.

The Rennie backrow will be Valentino, Hooper and Swinton. That will match the all blacks

Rennie should be happy with long ban. Why would you want someone impulsive and card magnet in your squad?
